Ernest A. Woodall, 88, of Shelbyville, Indiana, passed away April 30, 2026, at Waldron Health Care and Rehab. He was born Sept. 10, 1937, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of Luther Woodall and Agnes Dulworth Mayes. Ernest was a lifelong resident of Shelby County. On April 5, 1955, he married Rosemary Woodall, who preceded him in death Jan. 15, 2026.
Ernest worked as a truck driver for 32 years for Highway Dispatch, retiring in 1992. He was a member of Local 142 of the Teamsters Union. He attended The Bible Holiness Church in Shelbyville.
He is survived by his children, Kathy Schuck of Waldron; Philip Woodall of Shelbyville; and Diana Kortzendorf of Greenwood; grandchildren Christy Parrish, John Yarber, Brittany Shroyer, Lindsay Cheryl Turner, Lauren Nicole Johnson, Curtis A. Huffman and Gracie R. Kortzendorf; along with six great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and sister Jeanette Woodall. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and one son, Steven M. Woodall.
Ernest enjoyed sitting on the swing with the love of his life, watching his grandchildren play sports, but most of all spending time with his family.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 6, 2026, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, Shelbyville. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Joseph Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Miller Cemetery. Myrtle A. Woodall, 80, of Waldron, died Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, Waldron.
Born Aug. 2, 1923, in Ansel, d/o Charlie Wesley and Elizabeth A. Gaddis. Married Zora Smith and he preceded her in death. Married Forrest Woodall and he preceded her in death.
Survivors: 2 sons, Doy Smith of Shelbyville and Daniel Woodall of New Whiteland; three daughters, Pansy Smith and Patricia Barker, all of Shelbyville, and Peggy Dewitt (husband, Dale) of St. Paul; two sisters, Nellie Parton of Franklin and Eileen Rick of Eubanks, Ky.; two brothers, Norman Gaddis of Shelbyville and Marvin Gaddis of Muncie; 14 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by two daughters and four brothers.
Home health caregiver.
Member of the Church of God and attended Cornerstone Christian Fellowship.
Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St., Rev. George Mitchell officiating.
Burial: Forest Hill Cemetery.
