Jerry Lee Sosbe, 76, of Shelbyville passed away on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Ashford Place in Shelbyville. He was born on March 22, 1950, in Shelbyville, the son of Walter and Mildred (Purtlebaugh) Sosbe. Jerry is survived by his daughter, Shelley Sosbe Mills (Joe Powell) of Danville; son, Travis Sosbe (Lisa) of Marietta; brothers, Tom Sosbe (Jan) of Rushville, Tony Sosbe (Barb) of Brown County, and Brian Sosbe of Rushville; grandchildren, Brooklyn Klug (Mike), Christopher Mills (Emily), Kyle Mills, Blake Mills (Elle) Drew Powell, Dawson Powell, Tyler Sosbe, Kerra Rood and Paige Bryan (Ben); nine great-grandchildren; mother of his children, Sally Cox of New Palestine; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Tim Sosbe.
In 1969, Jerry graduated from Shelbyville High School. He was a welder for J&L Tool for 36 years, retiring in 2012. Jerry enjoyed going camping and fishing. He also enjoyed woodworking.
Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m., Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Funeral services will follow, with Steve Nuthak officiating. Interment will be at Miller Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice of charity.

Henry W. Sosbe, 74, Shelbyville, died Friday, Greenfield.
Born Oct. 9, 1925, in Moral Township, he was the son of Walter Pete and Nellie (Bausbach) Sosbe Sr.
Married Rosamond (Knight) Sosbe on June 10, 1946, and she survives.
Graduated in 1943 from Moral Township High School and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy.
He was a machinist for 28 years at Schwitzer Engineer Components.
Survivors: sons, David Sosbe, Shelbyville, and Scott Sosbe
and Ronald Sosbe, both of Fairland; two brothers, Walter Pete Sosbe
Jr., Shelbyville, and Charles Sosbe, Boise City, La.; three sisters,
Ida Parrott and Mary Brokering, both of Shelbyville, and
Elinora Imel, Fountaintown; and four granddaughters.
Preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Murphy-Parks Funeral Service with the Rev. Carl Ewick officiating.
Burial will be in Second Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
Memorial contributions: Shelby County Cancer Association.

DEATH OF CHILD.

Carl Otto Sosbe, 10 months old son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Sosbe, died at the home of the
parents in Van Buren township, at midnight Sunday, after an illness of three days. The child is survived by the parents and three sisters, Edna, Elnora, and Mary and two brothers, Walter and Henry. The body was brought to the home of the grandmother, Mrs. Elnora Sosbe, 492 West Mechanic street, where funeral services will be
held at three o'clock Tuesday afternoon in charge of Dr. L. T. Freeland. Burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery in charge of Chas. Ewing.

The infant son of Adam and
Mary Sosby, of Union township, age three months, died at two o'clock
Saturday afternoon, and was buried at the Marion Cemetery Sunday by D. B.
Wilson, funeral director.
