Violet Louise Ramsey

          Violet Louise Ramsey, 81, of Shelbyville, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Major Hospital in Shelbyville.  She was born on December 29, 1944, in Shelby County, the daughter of  Emerson “S.E.” and  Caroline Priscilla (Macy) Linville.  On April 18, 1965, she married  Daniel G. Ramsey, Sr.,  and he preceded her in death on January 3, 2019.
          Violet is survived by her sons,  Daniel G. Ramsey Jr. and wife, Neva, of Manilla,  Kenneth E. Ramsey  of Shelbyville, and  Dennis L. Ramsey and husband, Paul Wagoner,  of Solsberry; grandchildren,  Morgan and Gregory;  brothers,  William Fredrick Linville  of Arlington,  Keith Eugene Linville  and wife,  Diane, and  David Earl Linville,  both of Morristown; sister-in-law,  Karen Linville,  of Shelbyville; and several nieces and nephews.
          In addition to her husband, Daniel Sr., Violet was preceded in death by her parents; brothers,  Paul Emerson Linville  and  Ronnie Lee Linville;  and sister-in-law,  Sandy Linville.
          She was an active, lifelong member of the Little Blue River Friends Church, where she taught Sunday school.  Violet graduated from Arlington High School in 1962.
          She was a farm wife, homemaker, and lovingly baby sat for numerous children.  Violet owned and operated her own independent business, Tidy House Cleaning Company, for many years.  She was also a member of the Pioneer Engineers Club of Rushville, Indiana.  She enjoyed driving and riding the antique tractors in the parade with her grandchildren.  She especially enjoyed watching her grandson, Greg, learn how to maintain, haul, and operate the antique tractors and implements.
          Violet was well known for her wonderful black raspberry cobbler and her delicious blondies.  They were highly anticipated every year at the annual Pioneer Engineers Club Reunion.  She enjoyed baking these treats and others with her granddaughter, Morgan.
          Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm, Wednesday, July 8, 2026, and from 10 to 11 am, Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Little Blue River Friends Church, 122 N. 1000 W., Morristown, Indiana 46161.  Funeral services will be at 11 am, Thursday, at the church, with Pastors Jake Brown and Mike Dickey officiating.  Interment will follow at Little Blue River Friends Cemetery. Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Little Blue River Friends Church, 122 N. 1000 W., Morristown, Indiana 46161.

Daniel  Gale  Ramsey

          Daniel G. Ramsey,  80, of Shelbyville passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019, at his residence.  He was born January 2, 1939, the son of  Glen and  Audrey (Booher) Ramsey,  and step-son of Vivian.  Dan married  Violet Linville  on April 18, 1965.
          He is survived by his wife, Violet; his sons, Daniel G. Ramsey, Jr.  and wife,  Neva,  of Manilla,  Kenneth E. Ramsey  of Shelbyville, and  Dennis L. Ramsey  and husband,  Paul,  of Solsberry; sister,  Sue Jane Colquitt  and husband,  Lee  of Michigan; step-brother,  Eric Pierson  and wife, Gayle,  of Greenfield; step-sister, Margo Repar  and husband,  Jim,  of Greenfield; and grandchildren,  Morgan  and  Gregory Ramsey  of Manilla.
          He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother; and brother, David.
          Dan attended Shelbyville High School and was a member of the Class of 1957.  He was a U.S. Army veteran. Dan was a self-employed farmer, and then was employed with Johnson Trucking for 24 years.  In retirement, Dan and family owned a multitude of antique tractors and implements.  He was a long-standing member of the Pioneer Engineers Club of Indiana and was always sure to attend the annual show held in Rush County.  He loved to tell people about his Model T tractor and the family history behind the tractors, but Dan especially loved driving his Model A truck through the streets of Shelbyville on a nice, sunny day.  He also enjoyed his coffee meetings with his two friends, Bruce and Larry.
          Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2019 and from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.  Funeral services at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Mike Linville.  Burial will be at the Little Blue River Friends Church Cemetery.  Memorial contributions can be made to the Pioneer Engineers Club at P.O Box 536 Rushville, IN 46173.  Online condolences may be shared with Daniel’s family at www.freemanfamilyfuneralhomes.com.

Esther Ramsey

          Esther F. Ramsey,  92, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2016, at Morristown Manor in Morristown.  Born Feb. 19, 1924, in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the  Rev. John W. and  Mary (Bascom) Dennis.  she married  Dale E. Ramsey  on April 1, 1945, and he preceded in her in death June 9, 2006.
          She is survived by two sons:  Thomas G. Ramsey and wife, Carol; and  Philip Ramsey and wife, Cindy, all of Shelbyville; one daughter,  Debra Zargarian and husband, Ron, of Indianapolis; one sister,  Mary Lou Tinsley  of Shelbyville; 11 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
          Mrs. Ramsey was preceded in death by her parents; one son,  Warren Ramsey;  three brothers,  Loren Dennis,  Eugene Dennis  and  Dr. John W. Dennis;  five sisters,  Naomi Buchanan,  Ruth Benifiel,  Lucy Bogue Borradaile,  Grace Robertson  and  Julia Chwala;  and two granddaughters.
         She graduated in 1942 from Centerville High School.  Mrs. Ramsey was a homemaker but had many interests. She drove a van for Shelby County Special Education and helped with activities with the children.  Her special interest was Sunday school.  She taught over 55 years at Shelbyville First Church of the Nazarene, where she was a longtime member.  She also was interested in missions and served as the missionary president for many years.  She and her husband enjoyed Work and Witness trips for the Nazarene Church International, one of which was to Sun Valley Indian School in Arizona.  Mrs. Ramsey loved and supported the school.  Esther loved to read and study the Bible, and she enjoyed writing devotional articles and short stories about her life.
          Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at Shelbyville First Church of the Nazarene, 2315 S. Riley Highway.  Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 30, 2016, at the church, with Pastor Steve Bohall officiating.  Burial will be at Bennett Cemetery in Shelby County.  Memorial contributions may be given to Nazarene Missions International in care of Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, Shelbyville, IN 46176.

          Warren D. Ramsey, 59, Manilla, IN, died Thursday, October 6. 2005 at his home.  He was born in Shelbyville, September 17, 1946 to  Dale E. Ramsey and  Esther F. (Dennis) Ramsey,  who survive.
          Mr Ramsey graduated from Morristown High School in 1964 and Olivet Nazarene University in 1968.  He married  Charlotte K. Delhagen  on September 12, 1981.  He was formerly employed at Fairland National Bank.  He was a teacher at Morton Memorial School, Knightstown from 1968 to 1971.  He was a Systems Accountant for Defense Finance and Accounting Services at Ft. Harrison for 23 years, retiring December 30, 2004.  Mr. Ramsey liked to garden, deer hunt and enjoy the outdoors.  He was a member of the Park Chapel Christian Church, Greenfield, for 3 years.
          He is survived by his parents; wife Charlotte K. Ramsey, Manilla; daughter,  Renee N. Ramsey;  brothers,  Thomas (Carol) Ramsey  and  Philip (Cindy) Ramsey,  both of Shelbyville; sister,  Debra (Ron) Zargarian,  Greenwood, IN; father and mother-in-law,  Jack Delhagen and  Barbara Delhagen,  Monteverde, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
          Services will be held Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at First Church of the Nazarene, Shelbyville, with Rev. Phil Collier and Rev. David Woods officiating.  Interment will be at Bennett Cemetery. Visitation will be observed from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 10, 2005, at the Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, Shelbyville.

Glen  I.  Ramsey
          Glen Irwin Ramsey,  85, of Shelbyville died Nov. 23, 1998, at Major Hospital in Shelbyville.
          Born June 15, 1913, in Shelby County, he was the son of  William  and  Josie E. (Brown) Ramsey.
          He was a Shelby County resident most of his life and drove a school bus for Shelbyville Central Schools for 12 years, retiring in 1980. He was also a farmer most of his life.  He was a member of Farm Bureau Coop and Little Blue River Baptist Church.
          Survivors include his wife, the former  Julia Vivian Wooten,  whom he married on Sept. 19, 1970; sons  David G. Ramsey  of Tellico Plains, Tenn., and  Daniel G. Ramsey  of Shelbyville; daughter  Sue Janae Colquitt  of East Lansing, Mich.; stepdaughter  Margo Repar  of Greenfield; stepson  Howard Eric Pierson  of Greenfield; brother  Dale Ramsey  of Shelby County; sister  Mildred Ertmann  of Oceanside, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
          He was preceded in death by one brother.
          Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Carmony-Ewing Broadway Funeral Home in Shelbyville with the Rev. James Farnsley officiating.
          Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
          Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

          Ralph W. Ramsey,  64, R.R. 1, Arlington, died at 9:50 p.m. Monday at Rush Memorial Hospital.  Mr. Ramsey, an auto mechanic, had been employed at Fordice Motors, Rushville, and had previously worked at Nankivel Motors and Schmalhuasen-Siebert.  He was a U.S. Army-Air Force veteran of World War II and was a member of the Little Blue River Friends Church.
          A son of  Alfred and  Jessie (Black) Ramsey,  he was born June 7, 1922, in Rush County.  He was married Dec. 11, 1953, to  Rosaline Newhouse,  who survives.  Also surviving are a son,  John "Butch" Ramsey,  R.R. 1, Arlington; a brother,  Robert Ramsey,  New Palestine; and sisters,  Mrs. T. S. (Eileen) Macy,  R.R. 1, Morristown,and  Mrs. Eugene (Imogene) Lewellyn,  Shelbyville.  One brother and one half-sister preceded him in death.
          Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Moster and Cox Mortuary, Rushville, with Pastor Robert Taylor officiating.  Burial will be in Arlington East Hill Cemetery.  Friends may call at the mortuary.

Josie Brown Ramsey

          Josie E. Ramsey,  96, formerly of R.R. 1, Shelbyville, died Monday at approximately 9:50 p.m. at the Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Shelbyville.  She had been in failing health for the past six years.  She had resided in Shelby County for the past 94 years.
          Born December 16, 1885, in Orange Township, Rush County, she was the daughter of  David E. and  Mary M. Fisher Brown.  She was married to  William Ramsey  February 23, 1910.  He died April 17, 1974.  Mrs. Ramsey was a housewife and a member of the Little Blue River Baptist Church and the Ladies Aid and Missionary Society of that church.
          Survivors include two sons,  Glen Ramsey  and  Dale E. Ramsey,  both of R.R. 1, Shelbyville; a daughter,  Mrs. Jack (Mildred) Ertmann  of Anaheim, California; ten grandchildren; great grandchildren; two brothers,  Claude Brown  and  Clyde Brown,  both of R.R. 1, Waldron; and a sister-in-law,  LaVanche Brown,  of R.R.1, Shelbyville; and several nieces and nephews.  One son,  Clarence Brown Ramsey,  died in 1950.  Two brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
          Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Carmony Funeral Home in Shelbyville.  Burial will be in the Bennett Cemetery.  The Rev. Jesse McKinney will be in charge of the service.  Assisting him will be the Rev. Jewell.  Friends may call after 4 Thursday at Carmony F Funeral Home in Shelbyville.

          William Ramsey,  89, R. 1, Manilla, died of complications at Community Hospital in Indianapolis at 4:50 Wednesday afternoon.  He had been ill since January 27, and had been seriously ill in the hospital for one month.  Mr. Ramsey was born January 25, 1885, in Union Township, Shelby Co. in the house where he lived all his life.  He was the son of  Franklin and  Eliza Jane Ritter Ramsey.  On February 23, 1910 he was married to  Josie E. Brown,  who survives.
          The deceased was a farmer and was a member of the Little Blue River Baptist Church in Shelby County and the Shelby County Farm Bureau.
          Surviving with the widow are two sons,  Glen Ramsey,  R. 1, Shelbyville and  Dale E. Ramsey,  Shelbyville; a daughter,  Mrs. Clarence (Mildred) Baxter,  Anaheim, California; ten grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and a twin sister, Mrs. Gertrude Barber, of this city.
          Funeral service will be held at the Carmony Funeral Home in Shelbyville at 2 p.m. Sunday with Rev. Michael Julian officiating. Burial will be in Bennett Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Saturday.

          Clarence B. Ramsey, 39, of near Manilla, died Friday morning at 9:30 o'clock in the Major Hospital in Shelbyville.  He had been in ill health for the past year and in a serious condition for three months.
          He was a son of  William and  Josie Brown Ramsey  and was born February 1, 1911, in Shelby County.  On December 1, 1935, he was married to  Hazel Brandt  who survives with the parents; a sister,  Mrs. Mildred Baxter  of Franklin; and two brothers,  Glen and  Dale Ramsey of near Shelbyville.
          Mr. Ramsey was a member of the Little Blue River Baptist Church.
          Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Carmony Funeral Home at Shelbyville and interment will be made in the Bennett Cemetery, Shelby County.  Friends may call at the funeral home beginning Saturday noon.
