Janet Sue Pyle, 80, of Fountaintown, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at her home. She was born on August 20, 1945, in New Palestine, the daughter of Herman and Evelyn (Terhune) Ortel. On August 30, 1969, she married Norman Lee Pyle, and he preceded her in death on May 7, 2024.Shelbyville, Indiana

Janet is survived by her children, Lynetta Freudenstein and husband, Brent, of Indianapolis, Aaron Pyle and wife, Tina, of Fountaintown, and Daryl Pyle of Fishers; brother, Larry Ortel and wife, Janice, of Shelbyville; sister, Becky Wiley of Ingalls; grandchildren, Daniel Fox, Tracy (Alex) Fox, Lindsay (Caleb) Horine, Luke Freudenstein, Jessica Pyle, and Jaime (Tyler) Pyle; great-grandchildren, Hoyt, Raven, Drake, Madilyn, Caleb and Naomi; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to Norman, Janet was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Liza Fox; and brother, Kenneth Ortel.
Janet graduated from New Palestine High School. She was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. Janet formerly worked at Apria Healthcare for 15 years. She enjoyed baking and making craft projects.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, May 14, 2026, at the Pleasant View Baptist Church, 12442 Southeastern Avenue, Acton. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m., Thursday, with Pastor Mark Kern officiating. Interment will be at New Palestine Cemetery. Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant View Baptist Church.
