On Wed. evening the 3rd inst. Mr. George Lingenfelter,  a shoemaker came to his death in the following melancholy manner.  He became intoxicated and noisy and was committed to jail.  He either attempted to go from the upper to the lower room, or fell down and caught the trap door - a large heavy door - which caught his head between the door and the frame, killing him instantly...  Mr. Lingenfelter was over 60 years of age, he has resided in this place several years and was a civil and industrious man, when not under the influence of liquor.
