          Faith B Laird,  89, of Waldron, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Major Hospital in Shelbyville, Indiana, with family at her side.  Born June 1, 1936, in Rush County, Indiana, she was the daughter of  Chester and Faye (Scull) Meal.  She married  William Frederick "Bill" Laird  on Sept. 8, 1957, at Waldron United Methodist Church.  Bill preceded her in death on October 29, 2013.
          She is survived by her sister,  Barbara (Robert) White;  her sons,  Kevin (Valynda) of Bloomington,  Eric (Mary Ann) of Mooresville, and  Ted (Regina) of Arlington; and daughter,  Beth Ann (Tony) Lennen  of Shelbyville.  She is also survived by her grandchildren,  Dustin,  Jennifer (Jordan) Black,  Maggie (John) Absalom,  Nicholas (Ashley),  Jacob (Elizabeth),  Benjamin (Kristiann),  Morgan (Adam) Jarman,  Andrew,  Allison (Justin) Webb,  Caitlin (Jake),  Nolan (Kari),  Anna (Ben) Ingle,  and  Mitchell (Keely);  stepgrandchildren,  David Lennen,  Nikki (Adam) Jones, and  Jessie Davis;  and 23 great-grandchildren plus 3 step-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brothers,  Stanley and  Harlan;  and her sisters,  Beverly Wagoner  and  Beth Gahimer.
          Faith was a 1954 graduate of Waldron High School and a 1957 graduate of Indianapolis Methodist Hospital School of Nursing. After taking a 25-year break from nursing to raise her children, she returned to the healthcare workforce in 1984 as a staff nurse at Heritage House.  She later joined the Indiana Healthcare Association, where she rose to the position of vice president before joining the State of Indiana Division of Aging in 2008, from which she retired as director in January 2014.
          She was a longtime member of Waldron United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the church choir, taught Sunday School, and held various leadership positions for many years.  Her service to the community, both as a church member and as a township trustee, made a lasting positive impact throughout the area.
          Faith was a wonderful seamstress, an excellent swine showman, and an all-around great farm gal who had a tremendous love of cats. Even at the age of eighty, she could be found bush-hogging the pasture at Home Place Farm where she grew up. While Faith certainly was a devoted supporter of all things Purdue, she was an even more devoted supporter of her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her keen intellect and strong sense of duty have laid a strong foundation for her family and friends to build upon for generations to come.
          Funeral services will be at 12 noon on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Waldron Church of the Risen Savior, 202 West Washington Street, Waldron, IN with Pastor Tom True & Pastor Levi Heck officiating.  Friends may call on the day of the funeral from 10 a.m. until the start of services.  Burial will be at Moscow Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Waldron Church of the Risen Savior or to Shelbyville-Shelby County Animal Humane, 705 Hale Road, Shelbyville, Indiana 46176. Arrangements are being handled by Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home in Shelbyville.

          Christine Catherine Laird,  89, of Morristown passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at Walker House in Shelbyville.
          She was born October 13, 1931, in Shelby County, the daughter of  Russell W. and  Mildred G. (Kuhn) Coers.  On June 11, 1950, she married  Robert H. Laird,  and he preceded her in death on August 19, 2018.
          Christine is survived by her sons,  Anthony W. Laird  and wife,  Kerri,  of Manilla, and  Roger D. Laird  of Morristown; daughter,  Susan L. Kuhn  and husband,  Rex,  of Morristown; sister,  Nancy Brazier  and husband,  David,  of New Hampshire; grandchildren,  Stacy Rouse,  Benjamin R. Kuhn  and wife,  Megan,  Russell T. Kuhn  and wife,  Danielle,  Tara L. Griffith  and husband,  Jay,  Mary C. Knepp  and husband,  Joas,  Emily C. Laird  and  Aaron Gobel  and wife,  Teresa;  great-grandchildren,  Brooke Kuhn,  Jo Kuhn,  Jack Kuhn,  Samantha Kuhn,  Hannah Rouse,  Mollie Rouse,  Kyra Springman,  Parker Springman,  Alex Gobel,  Abby Gobel,  Micah Price  and husband,  Adam, and  Logan Vogler;  sister-in-law,  Susan Coers  of Shelbyville; three nieces and one nephew.
          In addition to Robert, Christine was preceded in death by her parents; sister,  Linda L. Mann;  brother,  Nile D. Coers;  and granddaughter,  Briana Springman.
          Christine was a 1949 graduate of Shelbyville High School.
          She was lifetime member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, where she served as treasurer for 46 years.
          Christine was a member of Psi Iota Xi.
          Christine was the corporation treasurer for Shelbyville Central Schools from 1949 to 1969, and for Shelby Eastern Schools from 1969 until retiring in 1997.
          Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, Saturday, December 26, 2020 at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, 3718 E. Blue Ridge Road in Shelbyville.
          Funeral services will be at noon at the church.
          Interment will be at Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Shelby County.
          Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
          Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, CDC guidelines requiring a mask and social distancing will be observed.

Charles "Dwain" Laird

          Charles Dwain Laird,  94, of Shelbyville passed away Sunday, September 22, 2019 at Heritage House of Shelbyville.
          Dwain was born March 14, 1925, in Shelby County, the son of  Harold Hanly and  Mary Margaret (Long) Laird.  On July 26, 1980, he married  Lossie Marie (Henke) Linville,  and she survives.
          In addition to Lossie, Dwain is survived by his son,  Michael Kent Laird  and wife,  Cinda,  of Shelbyville; daughter,  Christiane Christy Meyer  of Shelbyville; step-daughter,  Patricia Ilene Tricia Linville Walton  and husband, Roger,  of Shelbyville; grandchildren,  Stephanie Wehrman and husband, Ryan,  Natalie Pumphrey and husband, Robert,  Ashley Ricciardi and husband, Korey,  Jaclyn Zrebiec and husband, Jason,  Sarah Laird,  Zachary Laird and wife, Cassie,  Quinn Laird and fiance , Jessica,  Ryan Scott and wife, Brittny,  Cody Montgomery and wife, Erica,  Rachel Parks and husband, Michael,  Chad Simerly,  Levi Linville  and  Luke Linville; great-grandchildren,  Alexander Wehrman,  Elaina Wehrman,  Charles Pumphrey,  Mollie Pumphrey,  Anne Pumphrey,  Conner Ricciardi,  Hailey Ricciardi,  Camden Ricciardi,  Marissa Zrebiec,  Alexis Zrebiec,  Elijah Zrebiec,  Isaac Zrebiec,  Taylinn Laird,  Weston Laird,  Tucker Laird,  Jaylah,  Aaliyah,  Rylee Scott,  Max Scott,  Grace Montgomery,  Beckett Montgomery,  Ethan Simerly,  Haylei Simerly,  Silas Simerly  and  Braxton Parks;  sisters-in-law,  Faith Laird  of Waldron and  Christine Laird  of Shelbyville; and several nieces and nephews.
          Dwain was preceded in death by his parents; son,  Donald Dwain Laird;  brothers,  Dwight Norman Laird,  William Fredrick Laird  and  Robert Harold Laird;  sister,  Mary Frances Bush;  and step-daughter,  Melissa Ann Linville.
          He graduated in 1943 from Waldron High School.
          Dwain was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church since 1942, on August 13, 2006 he was ordained as a Deacon.
          He was a farmer and life-long Shelby County resident.
          Dwain was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II from 1945 to 1946 . He was privileged to go on the Indy Honor Flight on April 5, 2014.
          He formerly owned and operated, Laird Grain Company from 1951 to 1972. In 1977, he became a field representative for the Indiana State Board of Tax Commissioners, retiring in 1990.  From 1980 until 2014, he owned Laird Local Government Service.
          Dwain served his community by being elected Liberty Township Trustee in 1954 and 1958, in 1966 he was elected to the Shelby County Council and then as Shelby County Auditor in 1970 and 1974.  He was also the Honorary State Treasurer in 1995.
          He was also a member and past president of the Southeast District of the Association of Indiana Counties and Association of Indiana Counties.
          Dwain was an over 50-year member of the Waldron Masonic Lodge No. 217, Murat Shrine and Scottish Rite.
          He was also an IHSAA Sports Official, officiating basketball, football, baseball and softball from 1946 to 2011.  Dwain officiated the State Finals in baseball in 1973 and the State Finals in girls softball in 1990.  He and his brothers, Bob and Bill, and brother-in-law,  John Bush,  officiated basketball, football and baseball games all over the state of Indiana.  After graduating, he formed a fast pitch softball team, which led to him playing and or managing the following teams:  Liberty Merchants in 1944, State Bank of Waldron in 1946, Stone Fish Chevrolet in 1950, McCain Insurance, and WSVL Team. In 1963, he started the slow pitch softball league in Shelby County.  In 1993, he formed, played and managed the Indiana Silver Foxes Softball Team.  He also organized and started the Mid-Hoosier Umpire Association.
          Dwain was honored by being inducted into the Softball Players Association Hall of Fame in 2002 and the Indiana Softball Hall of Fame in 2012. Another honor bestowed upon Dwain, was the naming of the Blue River Park Diamond No. 2, the Dwain Laird Field.
          Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 26, 2019 at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, 3718 E. Blue Ridge Road, in Shelbyville, with Masonic Rites conducted at 7:30 p.m.
          Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, September 27, 2019 at the church, with Rev. Dr. Robb Barlow and Rev. Alecia Gross officiating.
          Interment will be at Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Shelby County, with military graveside rites conducted by the local military committee.
          Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.

Robert Harold Laird

          Robert Harold Laird,  90, of Morristown passed away Sunday, August 19, 2018 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus.
          He was born November 17, 1927, in Shelby County, the son of  Harold Hanly and  Mary Margaret (Long) Laird.  On June 11, 1950, he married his wife of 68 years,  Christine Catherine Coers,  and she survives.
          In addition to Christine, Robert is survived by his sons,  Anthony W. Laird and wife, Kerri, of Manilla, and  Roger D. Laird of Morristown; daughter,  Susan L. Kuhn and husband, Rex, of Morristown; brother,  Charles Dwain Laird and wife, Lossie, of Shelbyville; sister-in-law,  Faith Laird of Waldron; grandchildren,  Stacy Rouse,  Benjamin R. Kuhn and wife, Megan,  Russell T. Kuhn and wife, Danielle,  Tara L. Griffith and husband, Jay,  Mary C. Laird,  Emily C. Laird and  Aaron Gobel  and wife, Teresa; great-grandchildren,  Brooke Kuhn,  Lauren Kuhn,  Jack Kuhn,  Samantha Kuhn,  Hannah Rouse,  Mollie Rouse,  Kyra Springman,  Parker Springman,  Alex Gobel,  Abby Gobel,  Micah Price  and husband, Adam, and  Logan Vogler;  and several nieces and nephews.
          He was preceded in death by his parents; sister,  Mary Frances Bush  and husband, John; brothers,  William Frederick Laird and  Dwight Norman Laird;  daughter-in-law,  Catherine Ann Laird;  and granddaughter,  Briana Springman.
          Robert graduated from Waldron High School in 1945.
          He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II in Japan.
          Robert was a life-time member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher.
          He formerly worked at the State Bank of Waldron from 1969 to 1986.  In 1986, he became the Shelby County Treasurer, and served until retiring in 1994. He was also a farmer.
          Robert was also a 50-year member of the Waldron Masonic Lodge No 217 F&AM.
          He officiated basketball, baseball, football and girl s basketball for over 30 years.  In 1973, he refereed the IHSAA boy s state finals in basketball.
          Robert loved his family and enjoyed attending his grandchildren s sporting events.  In addition to his family, he loved animals, especially dogs.
          Visitation will be at 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 23, 2018 and from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Friday, August 24, 2018 at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, 3718 E. Blue Ridge Road in Shelbyville.
          Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with Rev. Dr. Robb Barlow officiating.
          Interment will be at Mount Pisgah Baptist Cemetery in Shelby County.

Catherine A. "Cathy" Laird, 37, of Shelbyville, died Tuesday, March 5, 2002, Indianapolis.
Born Nov. 17, 1964, in Willoughby, Ohio, d/o  Stephen and  Mary (Pettet) Comer.  Married  Roger D. Laird  April 5, 1986; he survives.
Other survivors:  two daughters, Mary Catherine Laird  and  Emily Christine Laird, both at home; one brother, Michael Comer  of Indianapolis; one sister, Carol Comer  of Indianapolis; grandparents  Max Comer  and  Ferol Comer of Rensselaer; and grandmother, Ardath Pettet  of Rensselaer.
Preceded in death by her grandfather, Charley Pettet.
Shelby County Clerk since Jan. 1, 1995; seven years in the Shelby County Treasurer s office; one year in the Shelby County Auditor s office.
Graduated from Franklin Central High School in 1983; attended University of Indianapolis.
Member of the PSI IOTA XI Sorority, Shelby County Republican Club, Shelby County Republican Women s Club, Indiana Clerks Association, Southern Indiana Clerks Association and Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.
