Phyllis Ann Harrison, 92, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026, in her home, exactly as she had wished. She was born on February 4, 1934. Phyllis was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Albert Harrison; her parents, Alta and Ephraim Wiley; her brother, Joseph Landwerlen; and her sisters, Margaret Landwerlen, Carol Tungate, and Shirley Keaton. She was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Sherry Poe, and her son-in-law, Larry Rose. She was a devoted mother to seven children: Ellen McKay (Dennis); Kevin Poe (Susie); Timothy Poe (Lola); Laura Smith (Steve); Amy Poe Beilach; Emily Rose (Wes); and Collin Poe (Jennifer). She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, along with many cherished friends and all who were blessed to know and love her. Phyllis graduated from the Indiana University School of Nursing and dedicated her life to serving others as a registered nurse. Throughout her lifelong nursing career, she worked faithfully in many different areas of healthcare, always providing compassionate care and comfort to those in need. A woman of deep and abiding faith, Phyllis was a devoted member of Rock Lane Christian Church. Her faith guided her life and was reflected in the kindness, strength, and love she shared with family, friends, and all who knew her. Phyllis will be remembered for her caring spirit, unwavering faith, dedication to nursing, and deep love for her family. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, faith, and service that will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her. Kay L. Brouhard, 66, of Shelbyville, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at her home. She was born on December 5, 1959, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Eugene and Imogene (Deitzer) Stadtmiller. On July 13, 1985, Kay married her husband of 40 years, Robert E. “Bob” Brouhard, and he survives. In addition to Bob, Kay is survived by her daughters, Mindy Huesman and husband, Devin, of New Palestine, and Melissa Flueckiger and husband, Eric, of Bargersville; sisters, Annette Mullen and husband, Bob, Judy Barbee, and Rita Sturgill and husband, Eddie, all of Shelbyville; brother, John Stadtmiller and wife, Kathy, of Angola; grandchildren, Madison, Megan and William; and several nieces and nephews. Kay was preceded in death by her parents; and brother-in-law, Michael Barbee. In 1977, Kay graduated from Shelbyville High School. She received her bachelor’s degree in retail management from Purdue University. Kay was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church. She was a teacher’s aide for 30 years at Saint Joseph Catholic School. She also formerly worked as a merchandiser for JCPenney for five years, following college. Kay was also a 43-year member of Kappa Delta Phi Sorority Psi Iota Chapter. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and spending time with her family. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville, with the Rosary recited at 3:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 4218 E. Wissing, 74, of Manilla, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2026, at MHP Medical Center. Born January 23, 1952 in Shelbyville, he was the son of Wallace and Marjorie (Moore) Wissing. Survivors include three siblings, Mike Wissing (Chris), Gary Wissing and Terry Wissing, all of Manilla. He was preceded in death by his parents; four siblings, Patty Wissing, Betty Wissing, Brenda Wissing and Larry Wissing; and a sister-in-law, Mary Wissing. Mr. Wissing was a lifelong resident of this area and graduated from Manilla High School. He was a lifelong self-employed farmer and a 50-year member of Manilla Volunteer Fire Department. Edwards, 89, of Shelbyville, Indiana, was promoted to glory on May 27, 2026. She was born Nov. 13, 1936, in Jeannette, Pennsylvania, the daughter of William Henry Edwards and Jessie Bell (Nedley) Edwards. Marlene is survived by a sister, Shirley (Robert) McDonald of Florida; sister-in-law, “Mert” Edwards of Indianapolis, Indiana; niece, Kathryn Edwards of Clifton, Illinois; great-niece, Chrissy (Ben) Peck of Mooresville, Indiana; three great-nephews, Brad Welbourne of Frankfort, Indiana, Zach (Sara) Edwards of Williamsport, Indiana, and Danny Dixon of Clifton, Illinois; Marlene is also survived by friend and caregiver, Shannon Benner of Shelbyville, Indiana, and several great-great-nephews and a great-great-niece. Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; twin sisters at 1 day old; brother, William (Bill) Charles Edward Sr.; nephews, William (Billy) Charles Edwards and Scott McDonald; and dogs, Lady and Sadie. Marlene attended Transylvania Bible School in Freeport, Pennsylvania, from 1957-1959 and then attended God’s Bible School in Cincinnati, Ohio, graduating May 19, 1962, with a bachelor’s degree in theology. She was a member of the Salvation Army. While serving as corps sergeant major in Lafayette, Indiana, Salvation Army. Marlene was called by God to serve in the mission field. Marlene served in Papua New Guinea from 1978-1981 as a printer. She learned to speak Pidgin English as well as the native tongue of the Papuan people. In 1982, she transferred to the Philippines and used her gifts of printing and teaching for 12 years. In 1994, she returned stateside for furlough and underwent treatment for breast cancer. Marlene served as associate corps officer for the Anderson Salvation Army from 1994-1995 and then was transferred to the Shelbyville Salvation Army, serving before retiring. In retirement, Marlene loved to spend time with her dogs, family, friends, gardening, puzzle books, Bible studies and preaching and teaching. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 2, 2026, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, IN 46176. He was born on December 18, 1931, in Shelbyville, the son of Ralph J. and Mary (Klare) Disser. On July 5, 1957, he married his wife of 68 years, Shirley Cole, and she survives. In addition to Shirley, Jack is survived by his children, D. Scott Disser and wife, Angela, of Greenfield, Kurt Jay Disser and significant other, Sabrina Graham, of Brownsburg, and Leigh Ann Disser of Fishers; grandchildren, Cole, Brock, Derek, Blake and Josslyn; and numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ralph Disser, Paul Disser, Karl Disser and Louis Disser; and sister, Jo Ann Disser. In 1949, Jack graduated from Shelbyville High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. Jack was part owner and operator of Shelby Steel. He was a member of the American Legion. Jack enjoyed going fishing, gardening and working in his yard. Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m., Monday, June 1, 2026 at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery, 704 Morris Avenue in Shelbyville, with Pastor Randy Worland officiating. Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Greenfield Boy Scout Troop No. 770.

Edgar Harrison, 80, died at 12:05 a.m. today at his home in Taylorsville.
Brother of  Mrs. Ethel Spurlin of Shelbyville.
Member of the Needham Christian Church.
Retired employe of a gravel company near Edinburg.
Born May 27, 1887, in Johnson county, the son of Richard and Alice (Kerr) Harrison.
Married in 1908 to  Zelma Cole  who survives at home.
Other survivors include two other sisters,  Mrs. Nora Possman, Kokomo and  Mrs. Ann O’Leary, Indianapolis.
Mutz Funeral Home in Edinburg, with Rev. Robert Kellums officiating. 
Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Local Resident’s Mother Dies at 98

Mrs. Alice (Kerr) Harrison, 98, Indianapolis, died Tuesday morning.
Services at the Pentecost Church in Edinburg.  Burial will be in the Rest Haven cemetery. Friends may call at the church Friday morning.
Mrs. Harrison, a former resident of Edinburg, died at her daughter’s home on 3042 N. Pennsylvania in Indianapolis. She had been ill for several years and death was attributed to complications.
Her daughter, Mrs. Ann O’Leary, survives with three other children, Mrs. Mary E. Spurlin of Shelbyville, Mrs. Nora Postman of Kokomo and Edgar Harrison of Columbus. Other survivors include three grandchildren and four great grandchildren of Shelbyville.

Charles W. Harrison Former Resident Dies

          Word has been received here of the death of  Charles W. Harrison, age 69, former Shelby county resident.  Mr. Harrison died at is home in Albany, Ind., at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.  Survivors are the widow,  Mrs. Zella Thomas Harrison, and two sisters,  Mrs. Lucille Andrews, of Indianapolis, and  Mrs. Marybelle Toner, of Chicago.  One son, Robert, preceded him in death.  Funeral services will be held at the late home at 1:00 pm Friday.  There will be graveside services at Forest Hill cemetery here at 3:00 p. m. Friday.

NATIVE  OF  CITY  DIES  AT  ALBANY
Robert T. Harrison to Be Buried Here

          Robert T. Harrison, co-ordinator of distributive education for the Indianapolis public schools, died Monday at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Harrison, in Albany, after an extended illness.
          Mr. Harrison was born in Shelbyville, but received his schooling in Albany.  He attended Hiram College, received his A. B. from Butler University, and took graduate work at Ball State Teachers' College and the University of Wisconsin.
          At various times, Mr. Harrison was a reporter on the  Shelbyville Republican, the Indianapolis News and  Evansville Journal, and he edited both the  Vincennes Commercial and  Vincennes Post.  He was an instructor in the journalism department at Butler University and had charge of the publication of the  Butler Daily Collegian in 1928-29, and for six years was a teacher in Vincennes high school.
          Besides the parents, Mr. Harrison is survived by the widow, Mrs. Ruth Lindsay Harrison, of Wheatland.
          Mr. Harrison was a member of Sigma Chi social fraternity, Sigma Delta Chi, national honorary journalistic fraternity, several professional organizations and the Christian Church.
          Funeral services will be held at Albany at noon today, with burial in Shelbyville at 2:30 p.m.

LOCAL  WOMAN  DIES  IN  UTAH
Mrs. Olive C. Harrison Passes Away At Home Of Daughter

          Mrs. Olive C. Harrison, wife of  R. N. Harrison  of 17 West Mechanic street, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gene Holloway, in St. Lake City, Utah, where Mr. & Mrs. Harrison have been spending the winter, early on Thursday morning.  Mrs. Harrison was the daughter of  Zachariah and Mary Wallar, pioneer residents of Shelbyville.  Her entire life, with the exception of a few years, had been spent in this community.  She was educated in the public schools of Shelbyville.  When quite young she was united in marriage to Charles Spellman, who lived but a short time after their marriage.  In 1902 she married Mr. Harrison, who survives. Survivors beside the husband and daughter, Mrs. Holloway, are one half-sister, Miss Beulah Wallar  of St. Paul, Minn., and her step-children, Mrs. Bert Andrews, of this city;  Mrs. Earl Toner, of Chicago, Ill., and  Charles Harrison  of Albany, Ind.  Her nieces, Mrs. Samuel Sanders, of Indianapolis, and  Jane and Beulah Andrews, of this city;  Betty Jane Toner, of Chicago, and a nephew, John Toner, of Chicago, and  Robert Harrison, of Vincennes, also survive.  Mr. and Mrs. Harrison were members of the Wi-Hub Circle for a number of years and Mrs. Harrison was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist, of this city.  She occupied a place on the board of directors in the new church and served as first reader in the new edifice.  Interment will be at Salt Lake City, Utah.

FUNERAL  SERVICES  HELD  FOR
RICHARD  HARRISON, 77

          Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Amity for  Richard Harrison, 77, father of  Edgar Harrison, of Shelbyville, who died Monday evening. He was a retired Edinburg lumberman.
          Other survivors are four daughters,  Mrs. Goldie Ryan, of Edinburg;  Mrs. Nora Postman and  Mrs. Anna Shepherd, of Kokomo and  Mrs. Lizzie Gaughorn of this city is a step-daughter.
