At the close of the D. of  H. meeting last night the committee in charge, with Sister Mary Curson as chairman, gave a donkey party.  That donkey had more tails, and so many places for them, that Uncle Ike Higgins had one pinned on the inside of his coat, which caused much amusement.  Eva Flaitz received first prize, a cake in the form of a jug, for pinning the tail in the proper place.  At the close of this entertainment, refreshments

At His Home Last Night--He is Released

for His Appearance.
----------
About two months ago  Miss Phoebe Kehst*  a good-looking young lady of this city, filed an affidavit before  E. K. Adams,  a notary public, that she was soon to become a mother without having been a wife, and declared that one  James Curson,  a festive blacksmith and a native of this city, was the cause of her condition.  Before a warrant could be issued, however, young Curson got wind of the proceedings and skipped out.  Last Saturday he came back home to attend on his mother, who is lying at the point of death, and last evening the officers pounced down upon him and took him in.  On his father promising that he should not go away until after the affair was settled, he was allowed to remain at home, and later in the evening he came up town and gave bond in the sum of five hundred dollars for his appearance when wanted.

Note:  I am guessing this is really Phoebe E. Kehrt, 1859-1891, daughter of  Phillip Peter Kehrt and  Anna Mary Haehl,  1870 census, Union Township, Shelby County, Indiana.
