----------
One of Shelby county's oldest men was called today in the death of  John H. Zauss,  who passed away at eight-forty-five o'clock this morning at the home of  Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kreiger,  one-half mile east of Middletown, at the advanced age of ninety-two years, seven months and fourteen days.  Mr. Zauss fell a victim to an attack of pneumonia from which he had been suffering only since last Thursday.  Until the attack came he was in excellent health for one of his years, as he had always been remarkable well preserved.
Mr. Zauss was born in Germany, but had been a resident of Liberty township, Shelby county, for many years.  He was known all over the southern part of the county, and was held in the highest esteem by all his acquaintances.
He is survived by four children.  They are  Mrs. George Scherer,  Mrs. Chirs Letsinger  and  Mrs. W. H. Weaver,  of Kokomo, and  Mrs. J. C. Riggway,  of Syracuse, Neb.
The funeral services will be held at the Kreiger residence at ten-thirty o'clock Thursday morning, the Rev. George Schwartz, of St. Paul, officiating, and the interment will be made in Forest Hill cemetery in charge of D. B. Wilson & Son.
