ACTON  DOCTOR'S  RITES  MONDAY

(Saturday, March 31, 1956)
          Private funeral services will be held Monday for  Dr. J. Arthur Swails, 85, who died at his home in Acton after nearly a half-century of medical service to the community.  The last rites will be held at the residence at 11:00 a.m. and burial will be made at Acton cemetery.
          Dr. Swails was a teacher in the Schools of Shelby and Marion county before turning to the study of medicine, and graduated from the Illinois Medical College in 1899.  He had practiced medicine in Shelby, Johnson, Hancock and Marion counties for 48 years.
          His wife, Hattie Huffman Swails, died in 1953, and he is survived by three brothers,  Fernando  and  Charles A. Swails  of Acton, and  Oren O. Swails  of Seymour.
