Merrill E. Stoneking, 78, of New Palestine, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, Indianapolis.
Born April 21, 1923, in Osgood, s/o  Edward and Pheobee I. (Hukil) Stoneking.
Married  K. Louise McKinney  on July 14, 1945;  she survives.
Other survivors include one son, Michael Ray Stoneking  of Shelbyville; two daughters, Brenda J. Johnson  of Austin, Texas, and  Julie G. Billingsly  of Indianapolis; one sister, Jean E. Grey  of Versailles; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by two sisters and one great-grandchild.
Employed at Allison Transmission in the aircraft division.
Member of UAW Local 933 and New Life United Methodist Church near Fairland.
U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a prisoner of war in Ger-many.
New Life United Methodist Church, 6145 N. 400W, Fairland, with the Revs. Jerry Crouse and Glen Beck officiating.
Burial:  New Palestine Cemetery in New Palestine.
Erlewein Mortuary, 1484 W. U.S. Highway 40 in Greenfield.
