          Mrs. Eliza Stanton,  66, of Linton died Thursday afternoon at the home of her daughter,  Mrs. Dorothy Shields  at Swayze [sic–Swayzee].  She was born in Marco Dec. 24, 1905, the daughter of  John and  Lilly Lucas Cox.  Mrs. Stanton had lived in Linton most of her life.  She was a member of the Women of the Moose, Eagles Auxiliary, Legion Auxiliary, War Mothers, Pocahontas and Rebekah Lodges.  Her husband,  John Stanton, died Oct. 5,* 1970.
          Survivors include the daughter at whose home she died, Mrs. Shields; a son  Roy L.  of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six brothers,  Floyd,  Tom,  Frank and  Malcolm Cox,  all of Linton,  Alfred Cox  of Marion and  Orval Cox  of Fort Bragg, N.C., and two sisters,  Mrs. Agnes Hash  of Bloomfield and  Mrs. Newton Hensley  of Brownsburg.  A son and a daughter preceded her in death.
          The body was returned to the Welch and Cornett Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday with Rev. Kenneth Adams officiating.  Burial will follow in Stafford Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Saturday.

WOMAN  DIES

          A former Shelby County resident,  Mrs. Mary W. Stanton,  89, died Thursday at the Masonic Home in Franklin, where she had lived since moving from Remington in 1961.  Services will be in the Franklin Masonic Home Chapel at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, followed by graveside rites at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. James H. Horner officiating at Forest Hill Cemetery here.  Local arrangements are in charge of the Ewing Mortuary.
          Mrs. Stanton, born in Morgantown April 10, 1880, the daughter of  Daniel and  Elizabeth F. (Rutherford) Wisler,  was married in 1924 to  Frederick D. Stanton  and he died in 1944.  Only survivrs[sic] are a stepson,  Frederick D. Stanton,  Miami, Fla., and a stepdaughter,  Mrs. H. B. (Lydia) Fisher.

Is Killed in Korea

          Pfc. Earl Dean Stanton,  21 years old, of Linton, was killed in action in Korea on Saturday, May 30, according to word received yesterday by his parents,  Mr. and Mrs. John Stanton.  Mr. and Mrs. Stanton received the following telegram from  Maj. Gen. William E. Bergin,  the Adjutant General of the Army:  "The Secretary of the Army has asked me to express his deep regret that your son, Pfc. Earl Dean Stanton, was killed in action in Korea on 30 May 1953. Confirming letter follows."
          Mr. Stanton was born in Linton Aug. 1, 1931 and had spent his entire life in this community.  He graduated from the Linton-Stockton high school with the class of 1949.  While at the school he was a member of the local high school football team.
          He was inducted into the Army on July 3, 1952, at Indianapolis and was sent to Ft. Custer, Mich., before being assigned to Camp Breckinridge, Ky., for his basic training.  When he was inducted into the Army he was employed at the U.S. Naval Ammunition depot at Crane.  He arrived in Korea on Jan. 5, 1953 and was assigned to an infantry mortar company of the 14th Infantry regiment.  His parents had received word only a few days ago that he was scheduled to go to Japan for a recreation and rest leave in a short time.
          He is survived by the parents,  John and  Eliza Cox Stanton;  one brother,  Roy L. Stanton  of Linton, and one sister,  Mrs. Dorothy Shields  of Bloomfield.  A brother died in infancy.

Body of Stanton
Is Now Enroute Home

          The body of  Private First Class Earl Dean Stanton  of Linton, killed in action Korea, is being returned to the United States Aboard the S.S. Greenbay Victory, the Department of Defense announced today.  The ship was expected to arrive at the San Francisco Port of Embarkation today.  The body will be placed in a rail mortuary car for transportation to the Brooklyn Army Base, New York, for delivery under escort to next of kin.
          Pfc. Stanton was the son of  Mr. and Mrs. John Stanton  of Linton.

          LINTON, Ind., Aug 12.--(Special)--Funeral services for  Pfc. Earl Dean Stanton,  22 years old, killed May 30 in Korea, will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Stafford Chapel.  Burial will be in the Stafford cemetery.  He is survived by the parents,  Mr. and Mrs. John Stanton,  and a brother  Dick Stanton,  all of Linton, and a sister,  Mrs. Dorothy Shields  of Bloomfield.  The body was taken to the Newkirk Funeral Home.

Private First Class Stanton was a member of the 14th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division.  He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea on May 30, 1953.  Private First Class Stanton was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

TAKEN   BY   DEATH

          Janice Irene Stanton,  infant daughter of  John and  Eliza Cox Stanton,  of 1120 Roosevelt street, after living but twelve hours, passed away at 10 o'clock last night in the Freeman Greene county hospital.  Surviving are the parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Stanton, and two brothers,  Roy Leon and  Earl Dean;  one sister,  Dorothy Marie,  and the grandparents,  Mr. and Mrs. John Cox.
          Short burial services are being conducted at 4 o'clock this afternoon in the Stafford cemetery south of Linton.  The Newkirk funeral home of Pleasantville has charge of the arrangements.
