Son Stricken, Critical After Death of Mother
----------
Word was received here today of the death of a former local resident in California, and the serious illness of her son who was stricken with a heart attack following her death.
Mrs. Margaret [Land] Schofield, who lived in Shelbyville for many years in the early part of her life, died in Culver City, California, following an extended illness.  She formerly was  Mrs. William Wintin  and her husband was a blacksmith here for many years.
Her son is  William (Billy) Wintin, mechanical superintendent of  The Greensburg News, who is in critical condition at Temple Hospital in Los Angeles.  He went to California to be with his mother before her death, and suffered a heart attack while there.
Mrs. Schofield was remarried after the death of her first husband.  The late Ray Wintin, Shelbyville insurance man, also was her son.  A daughter lives at Culver City, where funeral services and burial rites were held.
