Carl Purvis Dies; Funeral Is Planned
----------
          Carl E. Purvis, 63, died this morning at his home, 209 East 3rd.  For the past 19 years he had been employed by Red Willow County.  
          Funeral Services will be announced later by the Herrmann Funeral Home.  
          Born in Indianapolis, Ind., Mr. Purvis came to McCook in 1915 and had resided here since that time.  
           His survivors include a son, Jack, of Beatrice; a brother, Ralph Purvis, of San Antonio, Tex., and a sister.  His wife died in 1932 and a son was killed in action in World War II.
[Note: Carl Purvis was born in Needham, Johnson County, Indiana.  His wife, Lillie, died in 1934.  They are both buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, McCook, Nebraska.]

          Mr. Ralph Purvis, 2912 W. Gerald, passed away in a local hospital Monday, Jan 6 at the age of 71 years.
          Survivors:  wife,  Mrs. Edith Purvis; daughter, Mrs. William T. Wright, city; sister, Mrs. M. L. Brown, Denver, Colo; two grandchildren.
          Funeral services will be in the chapel of the Alamo Funeral Home Wednesday, Jan. 8th 10 a.m. with Rev. Earl Martin officiating.  Interment will be in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery under the auspices of Kelly Lodge No. 1131 AF&AM.  
          Mr. Purvis was a member of Browning Methodist Church, a life member and Past Master of Kelly Lodge No. 1131 AF&AM, and a member of San Antonio Chapter No. 381, R.A.M.  Arrangements by ALAMO FUNERAL HOME CA6-5357.

To  Be  At  Mt. Pisgah  Church

          A cerebral hemorrhage caused the death of  Warren Purvis, age 73 years, at 3:55 o'clock Monday afternoon at his home one mile east of Shelbyville on State Road 29.  He had been in ill health for three months.
          Mr. Purvis was born in Burnsville, Bartholomew county, on June 6, 1859.  His first marriage was to  Miss Frances Fisher, in 1880, her death occurring in 1902.  Later he was married to  Viola Tucker,  who died last September.
          The deceased leaves three children,  Mrs. Margaret L. Brown,  of Fort Worth, Texas;  Carl Purvis, of McCook, Neb.; and  Ralph Purvis,  of San Antonio, Texas.  Seven grandchildren, a sister,  Mrs. Flora Creasey, of Indianapolis; and a brother,  Harry A. Purvis, of Detroit, Michigan, also survive.
          Mr. Purvis had been engaged in farming all of his life.  He was a member of the Mt. Pisgah Baptist church and the Red Men lodge at Franklin.
          Funeral services will be held at the Mt. Pisgah church Thursday morning at 10:30 o'clock with the Rev. Clem officiating, assisted by the Rev. J. W. Kinnett, of Newcastle.  Burial will be in the church cemetery in charge of Morris Sleeth.  Friends may call at the home any time.

Well  Known  Resident  of  City  Passes  Away -- Funeral  Wednesday.

          George C. Purvis, a well known resident of this city, died at his home, 23 McKenzie street, at nine o'clock this morning, aged sixty-eight years, eleven months and ten days.  He is survived by his wife, four sons and one daughter.  They are  Warren  and  Harry Purvis, of this city;  Lewis Purvis, of Morgantown;  Adria Purvis, of Greenfield, and  Mrs. Flora Creasey, of Indianapolis.
          Funeral services will be held at the late home at one p.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. H. O. Pritchard.  The interment will be in Second Mt. Pleasant cemetery, under the auspices of Chillon Lodge, Knights of Pythias.  Edwards & Hageman, funeral directors.

Other:  Age 36.  "Mrs. Frances Purvis, daughter of  Mr. and Mrs. James K. Fisher, died this morning at the home of her parents.  She was born 9 September 1864 and was married to Warren Purvis in 1881.
