DEATH  CLAIMS  MRS. POMROY

Rites Wednesday at Home of Daughter

          Mrs. Sarah Isabel Pomroy, age 87, died at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Mae Patterson, at 828 west Franklin St.
          She suffered a fracture of the left hip in a fall six weeks ago, and death was caused by complications.  The daughter of  Marion  and  Mary [Marsh] Byland, she was born near Fairland on February 7, 1859.  She was married to  Mason C. Pomroy, of Shelby county, on October 29, 1876, and to this union four children were born, two of whom preceded in death.  Mr. Pomroy died on January 14, 1920.  Survivors with the daughter at whose home she died is another daughter, Mrs. Mary Cross, of Union township; one brother, John E. Byland, of Nashville, and several nieces and nephews.
          Early in life Mrs. Pomroy became affiliated with the Center Methodist church near Boggstown.  Funeral services will be held at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Patterson, at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. W. E. Burkher officiating.  Burial will be in the Fairland cemetery in charge of Loren H. Murphy, funeral director.  Friends may call at Mrs. Patterson's home.

Death Was Caused By Complication Of Diseases After Long Illness

          Mason Pomeroy, age 66 years, prominent and well-known resident of Brandywine township, died at his home at 12:35 o'clock this afternoon.  His death followed a long illness caused by a complication of diseases.
          Mr. Pomeroy served several terms as trustee of Brandywine township, and was active in democratic politics in the township and county.  He was a member of the Baptist Church, and held membership in the Pocahontas, Red Men, Haymakers and Eagles lodges in this city.
          He is survived by the widow and two daughters,  Mrs. Jack [May] Patterson, of Union township, and  Mrs. Mary Patterson, of Marion township.
          Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:30 o'clock at the Fairland M.E. church, the Rev. J.T. Trowbridge officiating.  Burial will be made in the Fairland cemetery.  The Red Men, of this city, of which Mr. Pomeroy was a member, will have charge of the burial services.

          FAIRLAND ITEMS -- We are pained to chronicle the demise of  Thomas Pomroy, of Sugar Creek Twp. on the 1st inst., of congestive chill, in the eightieth year of his age.  The friends of the departed have the sympathy of the entire community in their sad bereavement.

          Mr. Thos. Pomeroy of Brandywine Township, died on Friday morning and was buried in the Fairland Cemetery, on Saturday.  Our informant says that Mr. P. was born in North Carolina, and resided in that state 20 years; also resided in Virginia 20 years; in Ohio 20 years and in Indiana 20 years, consequently he was 80 years of age.
