Joseph M. Nading Sr., 66, of Flat Rock, died Friday, Dec. 27, 2002.
Born Oct. 3, 1936, in Bartholomew County, s/o  Lincoln O. and  Susie E. (Dinn) Nading.  Married  Darlene L. Theobald  and she survives.
Other survivors include his father, Hope; 3 sons,  Joseph "Marty" Nading Jr. of Greenwood,  Karl "Tony" Nading  of Jacksonville, Fla. and  Rickey Dale Nading  of Flat Rock; 1 daughter,  Kristine M. Dean  of Avon; 1 brother,  Earl Dean Nading  of Beech Grove; 3 sisters, Julia Casey  of Hope,  Rosalee Hendry  of Indianapolis and  Leora Mae Campbell  of Flat Rock; 2 grandsons, Joshua L. Clark of San Diego, Calif., and  Jason Stovall  of Avon.
Preceded in death by his mother.
Employed at the former General Electric Plant.
Member of Farmers Masonic Lodge, where he was a former master; Fellowship Baptist Church; Flat Rock Volunteer Fire Department; Flat Rock Order of Eastern Star; and Prairie Promenaders Square Dance Club.

Rites Wednesday for County Woman

Mrs. Eleanor (Ella) Nading, 83, died at Madison State Hospital Sunday, March 13, 1960.
Ill for several years and death due to complications.
Long-time resident of Flat Rock.
Widow of  Harry J. Nading, to whom she was married in 1893 and who preceded in death in 1931; he was a widely known grain dealer in Flat Rock many years.
Born October 30, 1876, at St. Louis Crossing, d/o  William  and  Mary Mount.
Surviving:  two daughters, Mrs. Izetta McQueen  of Flat Rock, R.R. and  Mrs. Odetta Parrish  of Flat Rock, four grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and two sisters,  Mrs. Carl Reed  of Columbus and  Mrs. Edna Hupp of Indianapolis, and one brother,  Clyde Mount of Columbus.
Member of the Flat Rock Methodist Church and the pastor of that church, at funeral services to be held at the 
Ewing Mortuary Wednesday; Rev. George Curtis, of Flat Rock Methodist Church will officiate.
Burial will be in Flat Rock cemetery.

OLIVER  NADING  DIES  AT  HOME

Funeral Held Today For 71-Year-Old County Man

          Funeral services were held at 2:00 o’clock this afternoon for Oliver A. Nading who died at his home near Flat Rock Saturday at 11:15 a.m. Mr. Nading was 71 years of age and had been an invalid for some tome.
          The son of  Charles and  Julia (Rogers) Nading, he was born at St. Louis Crossing on October 5, 1880. On September 16, 1906, he was married to  Opal Thayer  who survives with six of nine children born to the union. The children are Mrs. Mary Gant of Flat Rock; Mrs. Thelma Brumfield  of Anderson;  Mrs. Ruth Ritchison  and  Lincoln  and  John Nading, all of Hope.  Also surviving are one sister and a brother, Mrs. Nannie Stadler  and  George Nading  of Columbus and 19 grandchildren.
          Mr. Nading was a member of the Clifford Masonic lodge and the St. Louis Crossing Methodist Church where the last rites were held. Rev. Edward Bennett officiated and burial, in charge of the Mutz Funeral Home of Edinburg, was in the Moravian cemetery at Hope.

Funeral Will Be Held Sunday Afternoon

          Walter R. Nading, age 67, lifelong resident of Shelby county, dropped dead while at work Friday at the elevator in Lewis Creek.  He had been in failing health and a heart attack was the cause of death.
          Mr. Nading was born in Shelby county in 1877, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Nading.  He had spent his entire life in the Flat Rock and Lewis Creek communities.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Norristown.
          Survivors include four children;  Mrs. H. O. Emerick  and  Ralph Nading, of Lewis Creek;  Mrs. Choice Bartlett, of Brook, and  Mrs. Madge Swinford, of near Hope.  Also surviving is a brother, Martin Nading, of Flat Rock.
          Five grandchildren also survive.
          Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the Flat Rock Methodist church.  Burial in charge of Loren H. Murphy will be in the St. George cemetery.  Friends may call at the Murphy funeral home after 4:00 p.m. today and until the hour of the services.

          Harry J. Nading, age about sixty years, native of Flat Rock, and a resident of Shelby county the greater part of his life, died Monday night at seven o’clock at his home in St. Louis Crossing, Bartholomew county. His death was caused by pneumonia and a heart attack and followed an illness of one day less than a week.
          Mr. Nading was the manager of the Central States Grain Corporation grain elevator at St. Louis Crossing at the time of his death. He had lived there about two years. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Nading and had been born at Flat Rock. He was engaged in the grain business in Flat Rock for a number of years and also was in the same business at Morristown, before going to St. Louis Crossing. Mr. Nading was a member of the M.E. Church at Morristown, having transferred his membership there from Flat Rock. He was a member of the Masonic lodge at Norristown, and Knights of Pythias at Flat Rock.
          Surviving are the widow Ella Nading; two daughters, Mrs. Floyd [Izetta] McQueen, of Shelbyville and Mrs. Odetta Parrish, of St. Louis Crossing, and two brothers, Walt and Martin Nading, of Flat Rock
          Funeral services will be conducted at the home at 1:30 o’clock Wednesday afternoon. Burial will be in the Flat Rock cemetery.

Aged Resident Passed Away At Home Of Son,
Martin Nading At Flat Rock

FUNERAL  SERVICE  TUESDAY

          Mrs. Nora V. [Warner] Nading, widow of the late John Nading, died at the home of her son, Martin Nading, at Flat Rock, on Sunday evening at seven-thirty o’clock, following an illness of about two years. She was taken seriously ill on last Saturday. Mrs. Nading was seventy years of age and celebrated her birthday on May 16th, of this year. Death was due to a complication of diseases.
          The deceased was a member of the Lewis Creek Wesleyan Methodist church for several years. She was a native of Shelby county and was born at Flat Rock, the old homestead being removed only a few days ago. She is survived by three sons, Martin Nading, at whose home she passed away; Walter Nading, also of Flat Rock and Harry Nading, of Lapel, Indiana. Also ten grandchildren and one great grandchild.
          Funeral services will be held at the home of her son, Martin Nading on Tuesday afternoon at two-thirty o’clock, the Rev. Anthony, of Charlestown, Indiana, officiating. Interment will be made in the St. George cemetery.

          Mrs. Walter (Golda) Nading died at her home in Flat Rock Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock.  Her death was caused by influenza, with which she had suffered for one week . Mrs. Nading was 29 years old and has been a resident of Flat Rock for six years.  Before her marriage to Mr. Nading her home was in Marion, Indiana.  She leaves her husband, two little girls, age five and two, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Parks, of Marion, Indiana, four brothers, three in service and one sister.
          The funeral services will be held at her late home in Flat Rock Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock, Rev. J.L. Meyer will officiate.  The body will be taken to Marion, Indiana where short funeral services will be held Wednesday and interment will be made in Marion cemetery.

DEATH  OF  PROMINENT  CITIZEN

          Mr. John Nading died at his home in Flat Rock at an early hour Thursday morning, of consumption, aged forty five years. Deceased was born in Flatrock township, Bartholomew county, April 12, 1843. At the age of eighteen years his father died, and the care of the family devolved upon him. In 1865 he started in the grain trade at St. Louis Crossing, and in 1872 moved to Flat Rock. On December 21, 1871, he was married to  Nora V. Warner, daughter of  Martin Warner, one of the old settlers of this county. Deceased carried life insurance amounting to $11,000, of which $6,000 was in the Equitable of New York and $5,000 in the New York Life.

          John Nading  owned about twelve hundred acres of land, and was worth about $150,000. He leaves a wife and four children

          Mrs. John Nading  will move from Flat Rock to Topeka, Kansas, to live, as soon as she can settle her affairs.

          In the death of  John Nading, at Flat Rock, Shelby county loses one of her most upright energetic citizens, a man in every sense.

          The funeral services of the late  John Nading  were held at Flat Rock Tuesday, Rev. Ryan of Bartholomew county, assisted by Rev. Jones of Flat Rock, officiating.  About fifteen hundred persons attended the services and the procession was a mile in length.

          Ralph Nading, age six years, son of  John Nading, of Flatrock, died at nine o'clock this morning of meningitis.  The remains will be interred at St. George's Lutheran Chruch tomorrow.
