Manilla native Acel Dove (Strode) Mahin, 101, Morresville, died Tuesday at Miller’s Merry Manor Nursing Home. in Mooresvill, a resident of the past five years.
Born Manilla May 31, 1893, daughter of  David Lawson & Alta Mae (Craig) Strode.
Married June 1, 1913  Earl Herbert Mahin  who died 1956.
Member Mooresville Christian Church.
Survivors:  son, Dwight H. Mahin, Westfield; daughter Lori Van Hoy, Mooresville; 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren
Services Carlisle & Son Funeral Chapel, Mooresville, Rev. George Dudley officiating.
Burial:  Manilla Cemetery

EARLE  MAHIN  SUCCUMBS  AT  77
Funeral for Manilla Man will be Thursday
---------
Earle H. Mahin, 77, died at his home in Manilla at 3:15 this morning.  Death attributed to heart complications. 
One-time teacher in Walker township, Rush county, and a barber in Manilla for 40 years before retiring five years ago.
S/o  Emory and  Mary (Hill) Mahin, born near Manilla December 20, 1878.
Member of the Manilla Christian church and the Modern Woodmen Lodge. 
June 1, 1919, married  Acel D. Strode  who survives with two of three children born to the union:  Dwight H. Mahin of Indianapolis and  Mrs. John Andrews  of Camby R.R.1.  Also surviving are four grandchildren and one sister,  Mrs. Loicy Lingenfelter  of Indianapolis.
Funeral services at the late home in Manilla with Rev. Wayne Marker officiating.

End Comes For A. E. Mahin, 82,
Ill Two Weeks; Funeral Tuesday
---------
          Ill for two weeks with complications of aliments, Alpheus Emory Mahin, 82, died Sunday morning at 8:00 o’clock at his home in Manilla.  He had spent all his life in that community.
          The deceased was born August 17, 1858 and was a son of  William  and  Elizabeth (Hodge) Mahin.  He was united in marriage March 15, 1877, to  Miss Mary Elden Hill, who died September 15, 1922.
          To this union three children were born.  A son, Harry, died in the influenza epidemic of 1918, while he was a trainee in the Great Lakes Naval Training Station.  The other two, Earl Mahin  and  Mrs. Locia Lingenfelter, both live in Manilla.  A brother, A. T. Mahin, of Indianapolis, and two sisters,  Mrs. Addie Ringo, of Indianapolis, and  Mrs. Melvina Woodard, of Kokomo, also survive, together with a half sister,  Mrs. Reba Fryman  of Dublin, and five grandchildren.
          Funeral services will be held at the D. E. Carmony funeral home at 1:00 o’clock Tuesday afternoon in charge of the Rev. R. E. Walker, pastor of the Methodist church at Manilla.  Burial will take place in the Manilla cemetery in charge of D. E. Carmony, funeral director.

ARTHUR  MAHIN,  54,  DIES  IN  HOSPITAL
Funeral Arrangements To Be Announced Tuesday;
Death Follows Long Illness
LEAVES  2  CHILDREN,  SISTER

          Arthur I. Mahin, well known farmer of this county, passed away at the Major Hospital this morning at 7:00 o’clock, following a two years’ illness of tuberculosis.  The deceased was fifty-four years old at the time of death.
          He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Mahin  and was born on August 13, 1879, in Walker township, Rush county.  Survivors are the two children,  Mrs. Louis Marshall, of Shelbyville, and  Glen Mahin, of Liberty township; 1 grandchild, a sister,  Mrs. Elmer Fryman, of Cambridge City; three half-brothers,  A. T. Mahin, of Rushville;  Emry Mahin, of Manilla, and  John Hill of Noble township, and two half-sisters,  Mrs. Vina Woodard, of Kokomo, and  Mrs. Nettie Willis, of Manilla.
          Funeral arrangements will be announced in Tuesday’s issue of the Republican by Ezra Carmony, funeral director in charge.

A. MAHIN  FUNERAL  RITES  TOMORROW

          Funeral services for  Arthur I. Mahin  who passed away at the Major Hospital yesterday morning at 7:00 o’clock, will be held Wednesday morning at 10:00 o’clock at the home of the half-sister, Mrs. Nettie Willis, of Manilla.  The Rev. Oscar Jean, pastor of the Manilla Methodist church, will officiate.
          Burial will be made in the Manilla cemetery in charge of Ezra Carmony, funeral director.  Tuberculosis was the cause of death.

Death Occurred To Mrs. Mary E. Mahin
Following Stroke of Paralysis
FUNERAL  SERVICE  SUNDAY

          Death occurred Friday night at 10:30 o’clock to  Mrs. Mary E. Mahin, at her home in Manilla, following a stroke of paralysis which she suffered on August 10th.  Mrs. Mahin had remained in an unconscious condition for the past thirty-seven days.  She was 62 years of age.
          Mrs. Mahin was very well known in the Manilla community, having resided there all her life.  She was a member of the Manilla Christian church since early childhood.
          She is survived by the husband, A. E. Mahin, one son, Earle  of Manilla, one daughter, Mrs. Icy Lingenfelter, one sister,  Mrs. F. L. Mason, of Prescott, Arizona, and three grandchildren,  Grace,  Rhea  and  Dwight Mahin  of near Manilla
          Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at the Manilla Christian church at two o’clock.  Burial will take place in the Manilla cemetery, Carmony Brothers in charge.

          Word has been received by  Mr. and Mrs. Emory Mahin, of Manilla, of the death of the son, Harry Mahin  at the Great Lakes Naval Training station.  He was a Y.M.C.A. secretary at the Great Lakes station.  Death came by an attack of Spanish influenza.
          The body was returned to Manilla Monday night.  Funeral arrangements will be made later and announced by Stewart and Fix.

          The infant son [Glenn G.] of  Mr. and Mrs. Earl Mahin  died Sunday evening at their home in Manilla.  The child was three days old.  The child besides its parents is survived by a great grandmother and great grandfather.  Short funeral services were held at the home at one-thirty o’clock this afternoon.  Burial was made in the Manilla cemetery in charge of Stewart & Fix.

WELL  KNOWN  OLD
VETERAN  DEAD

(From Thursday's Daily.)
          Montaville Mahan,  after an illness of several weeks, died at the home of his daughter,  Mrs. Henry Gathman,  this morning at 7:30 o'clock.
          Deceased was born April 7, 1834, died September 12, 1907, age seventy-three years, five months and five days.  He was married to  Cynthia Todd  June 28, 1855, she having departed this life June 28, 1871.  To them were born four children, three of whom survive -- Jennie,  John A., and  Alfoncis Mahan.  After nine years he was again married to  Elizabeth Main,  who passed to eternity some three years ago.  Since that time he has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Henry Gathman, 298 Washington avenue.
          He was a member of Company B., Seventieth Indiana regiment and also a member of Dumont Post, No. 18, G.A.R.  He has been a sufferer for seven weeks being patient to the end.  He expressed himself at different times that he was trusting in the Master.
   
          Funeral will be held at the Lewis Creek Baptist church Saturday, September 14, at 2 p.m., Rev. O. A. Cook officiating, and in charge of Stewart & Fix, funeral directors.  Casket will be open from 7 to 9 Friday evening and from 9 to 12 Saturday.

Alanda Mahan Dead.
----------
          Alanda Mahan, one of the most prominent farmers of Rush county, residing in Walker township near Manilla, died Sunday night.  To Shelbyville friends his death was unexpected.  Mr. Mahan was in Shelbyville two weeks ago and appeared in the best of health.
          He was aged sixty-seven years, ten months and seventeen days.  Mr. Mahan was the father of  Mrs. Ed Hester  and  Mrs. Charles Headlee,  of this city,  Alfred Mahan  of Indianapolis and  Lancy Mahan  of Rush county.  The funeral services will be held at the home Wednesday morning at ten o-clock, the Rev. Mr. Jinnett officiating.  Burial will be in the Hurst cemetery in charge of Stewart & Fix.
