RITES  SET  FOR
David Lane, 77

          Funeral rites have been arranged for David Lane, 77, former local resident and father of  Herman Lane and  Mrs. Columbus [Effie] Wagner of this city.  The rites will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Murphy Mortuary with Rev. A.M. Hamilton officiating. Interment will be at Forest Hill cemetery.  Friends may call at the mortuary.
          Mr. Lane, a former carpenter with local building contractors, died Monday night at his home near Hyden, Kentucky.  He was born at Columbus on September 23, 1877, the son of  Marion and  Hannah (Murray) Lane.  He resided in Shelbyville for 30 years before moving to Kentucky 10 years ago.  He first was married to  Ollie Birkhimer whose death occurred on July 21, 1943.  Six children were born to the union and five survive.
          Also surviving are the widow,  Minnie Boling Lane  to whom he was married July 6, 1945; 23 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 10 step-children and nine step- grandchildren.
          Mr. Lane was a member of the Trinity Methodist church.

LOCAL  PAINT  CONTRACTOR  DIES

Rites for Allie J. Lane To Be Conducted Monday A.M.
----------
          Allie J. Lane, local paint contractor for many years, died at 12:12 a.m. today following a long period of ill health.  His home was 818 Meridian Street.
          He was born in St. Paul on April 11, 1877, [son of  Francis and  Prudence Lane] and in June 1920 was married to  Mrs. Lena Moss who survives with two step-children,  Dennis Moss  of Hammond and  Mrs. Boyd McCracken  of the Meridian Street address.  Also surviving are a sister,  Mrs. Pearl Graham of Indianapolis; five step-grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.
          Mr. Lane was a member of the First Baptist Church in North Madison.
          Last rites will be held at the Sleeth Funeral Home Monday at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Melvin R. Phillips officiating.  Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.

DEATH  CLAIMS  WALTER  LANE

County Resident Succumbs at Reed Home
----------
          Walter Lane, 85, died at 9:30 p.m. Saturday at the home of  Eden Reed in Marion township.
          Born June 7, 1860 in St. Paul, he was the son of  Franklin and  Prudence Lane.  He was married to  Bonnie Goodyear, Indianapolis.  Her death occurred several years ago.  Mr. Lane was a member of the Red Men’s lodge.
Surviving are two sisters,  Mrs. Charles Comstock, of Shelbyville;  Mrs. Pearl Graham, of Indianapolis, and a brother,  Allie Lane, of this city.
          Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Morris H. Sleeth funeral home with the Rev. A. J. Spaulding officiating. Burial will be made in Forest Hill cemetery.

ILL  6  MONTHS,  DEATH  RESULTS

          Mrs. Ollie M. Lane, 67 years old, passed away at her home, 736 Fair Avenue, at 10:30 p.m. Thursday following an illness of more than six months.  Death was caused by a complication of diseases.
          She is survived by her husband, David Lane.  Mrs. Lane was born in Brown county on June 12, 1882, the daughter of  Mr. and Mrs. Valentine Burkheimer.  She and Mr. Lane were married on October 14, 1898, and were the parents of seven children, six of whom are living.
          Among the survivors are two daughters,  Mrs. Columbus (Effie) Wagner, of Shelbyville, and  Mrs. Robert Greer, of Detroit, Michigan; four sons,  David F. Lane, of Connersville;  Guy Lane, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and  Herman and  Charles Lane, of Shelbyville.  Also included among survivors are 23 grandchildren, two brothers,  James Burkheimer, of Indianapolis, and  John Burkheimer, of Detroit, and one sister,  Mrs. Kate Kinney, of Columbus.
          Mrs. Lane had been a resident of Shelbyville for the past 18 years.  She was a member of the Trinity Methodist Church, where funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. today with the Rev. Josephine Huffer officiating.  Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.

FUNERAL  SERVICES  MONDAY

          Mrs. Gladys Irene Lane, wife of Guy Lane, died at her home, 736 Fair Avenue, this city, at 9:00 p.m. Friday at the age of twenty-two years.  Peritonitis was the cause of death.
          She was born in Bartholomew county, Indiana, July 26, 1911, and was the daughter of  Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hayworth.  On November 2, 1930, she was united in marriage to Mr. Lane and to this union was born two children,  Richard, age 3, and  Betty Joan, age 1.
          Besides the husband and children, she leaves the parents, two brothers,  Paul Hayworth, and  Woodrow Hayworth, both of Crawfordsville, and two sisters,  Mrs. Elmer Owens, of Greensburg, and  Mrs. Gerald Lewis, of Crawfordsville.
          Mrs. Lane was a member of the Trinity M.E . church, where funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. Josephine Huffer, officiating.  Interment will be in Forest Hill cemetery in charge of Charles M. Ewing.

MRS.  WALTER  LANE
----------
          Word has been received in this city of the death of Mrs. Walter [Fannie] Lane at her home in Indianapolis.  Her death, according to the message received by local relatives, was very sudden.  Mrs. Lane is said to have been in ill health for some time, however.  For many years she was a resident of Shelbyville, leaving here a few years ago to reside in the capital city.  Her maiden name was Miss Flora Puesey.
          At the time of her death Mrs. Lane was forty-five years old.  She is survived by her husband, one son,  Carl, aged twenty years, one sister, residing in Michigan City and one brother living in Indianapolis.  She was a sister-in-law of  Mrs. John Dobbins  and  Eden Reed of this city.
          The body was brought here on the 1:32 interurban car this afternoon.  It was taken immediately to Forest Hill Cemetery, where short funeral services were held, the Rev. H. N. Spear officiating.  Interment was made in charge of Stewart & Fix.

          The remains of the late Harry Lane, who died at Indianapolis, were brought to this city this morning and taken to the undertaking business house of  M. G. Tindall and prepared for burial.  Later they were removed to his late residence on East Jackson street.  Funeral services will be held at the late residence Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock by Rev. O. A. Cook.  Interment in Forest Hill cemetery in charge of  M. G. Tindall.

          Prudence A. [Kleinhens] Lane, widow of the late  Francis Lane, died at her home, No. 151 South West Street, Sunday, June 7, after an illness extending over several months, aged sixty-two years and six months.  She leaves four sons,  Walter,  William,  Albert  and  Harry, and five daughters,  Mrs. Edward (Ollie)     White,  Mrs. Otto (Emma) Kennedy,  Mrs. John (Cora) Dobbins,  Mrs. Eden (Eva) Reed  and  Mrs. Charles (Pearl) Graham.  She was a member of the First Baptist church of this city.  The funeral services will be at her late home at 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 9th, Rev. H. H. Hulten officiating.  Interment in Forest Hill, in charge of Edwards & Hageman.
