REV.  E.  W.  S.  HAMMOND  DEAD.
----------
All the colored people of Shelbyville, as well as mnay whites, will regret to learn of the death of the  Rev. E. W. S. Hammond,  of Indianapolis.  He died very suddenly at his home without having been ill.  His funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:10 o'clock at Simpson M. E. church.  Rev. Hammond was born in Baltimore 70 years ago.  Perhaps he was the best known minister in the Lexington conference.  He was a man of unusual ability and as a pulpit orator had few equals.  He preached in Shelbyville on a number of occasions and always to large and delighted congregations.  He will be buried at Crown Hill with the Masons in charge.  One of his daughters is  Mrs. Heardpath  of Rushville, who is well known here.
