Dr. Oliver D. Fitch,  a prominent resident of Morristown for many years, passed away Friday evening at the Odd Fellows home at Greensburg, aged ninety-three years.  The body was taken to the home of  C. M. Roch  at Morristown, Saturday, and the funeral was held at the Christian church at that place Sunday afternoon at two o'clock.  Dr. Fitch was born in New York in 1818.  He taught school at Brookville and also at Morristown academy for twenty-four consecutive years and later in the new graded schools.  He was an astronomer and scientist and owned a large telescope.  He was a prominent Odd Fellow and Mason.  His wife died at the Odd Fellows home a year ago.  Many of Mr. Fitch's old school pupils live in Shelby and Hancock counties and a reunion of his pupils has been held annually for about twenty years.
