Lifelong  Resident  of  County  Dies
at  Home  of  C. F. DeMott
in  Hendricks  Township

          In failing health for the past five months and seriously ill for two weeks,  William M. DeMott, Jr., well-known Shelby county farmer, died at the home of his son,  Chester F. DeMott, in Hendricks township, Friday afternoon at 1:45 o’clock. A complication of aliments was the cause of death.
          Mr. DeMott was born in Sugar Creek township on July 31, 1877, a son of  William and  Sarah Demott.  He was aged 64 years, three months and twenty-four days at the time of death.
          Married to  Miss Maude Aulby  on September 1, 1896, he became the father of three children, who survive.  They are  Cecil J. DeMott, of Union township;  Chester, at whose home he died, and  Mrs. Chauncey Branaman, Connersville.  In addition there are eight grandchildren and two brothers,  Frank of Johnson county, and  Richard, of Union township.  He had been a resident of the county his entire life.
          Mr. Demott united with the Vine street Methodist church October 24, 1920—21 years to the day before he died.

Four-Year Illness Results in
Death of Union Township Resident

          Ill for the past four years,  Mrs. Mildred Jane DeMott, wife of  Cecil J. DeMott, died Wednesday evening at 6:40 o’clock at her home in Union township. Mrs. DeMott was thirty-five years and 26 days old at the time of death.
          The deceased was born in Shelbyville on August 15, 1906, the daughter of  John and  Lottie (Hasecuster) Henry.  She was married to Mr. DeMott on February 7, 18 years ago, and to this union a son,  Dale Henry DeMott, who survives at home, was born.  Other survivors are a brother,  Cecil Henry, of Peru; a sister,  Mrs. George Wattts, of this city; a grandmother,  Mrs. Fred Brown, of Indianapolis, and several nieces and nephews.
          Mrs. DeMott was a devoted member of the Vine Street Methodist church, having been active in church affairs until becoming ill several years ago.
          Funeral services will be held at the Vine Street church Friday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock, with the Rev. A.M. Hamilton officiating.  Interment will be made in the family lot in Forest Hill cemetery in charge of C.F. Fix and Son.

DIED  SATURDAY  NIGHT
IN  ARCOLA, ILLINOIS

          Mrs. Mary Ellen Demott  died at her home in Arcola, Illinois, Saturday after an illness of about four weeks.  She was married to Charles T. Demott October 30, 1889.  She leaves her husband, two sons, Virgil and Sheldon and  Miss Audia, also one brother, Thomas Stotsenburg of this city.  Mrs. Demott was formerly a resident of Noble township and moved to Illinois about nineteen years ago.  Funeral services were held at the home of her brother, Thomas Stotsenburg, in South West street this afternoon at two o'clock.  Interment was made in the Ogden cemetery in charge of  R. T. Stewart.

Mrs. Sabrie Demott Passed Away
Following Long Illness

FUNERAL  SERVICES  MONDAY

          Mrs. Sabrie Demott, aged 82, widow of Abraham Demott, died at the home of her daughter Mrs. James  [Mary Lina]* Townsend, of St. Paul, at 6:00 o'clock this morning.  Death was caused from paralysis.  Mrs. Demott had been in failing health for some time and her death did not come unexpectedly.  She was born August 14, 1838, the daughter of  Mr. & Mrs. Jacob Applebee, pioneer residents of Decatur county.  She was united in marriage to Mr. Demott in December, 1857, and to this union four children were born, two of whom survive.  They are Mrs. Townsend, at whose home she died and  Theodore Townsend [Charles Theodore Demott]*, of Illinois.  Mrs. Demott was a member of the United Brethern church of St. Paul and was one of the most highly respected residents and her death is a great loss to the community.  Funeral services will be conducted at the U.B. Chapel, south of St. Paul, Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock.  Burial will be made in the Reed cemetery, Stewart & Fix, undertakers in charge.
