Rites Pending for Local Mechanic, 71

Verl Creek, 71, died at 11:45 am today.  Failing health for one year.
Born in Shelby County Aug. 10, 1894, s/o Thomas Creek and Mrs. Cappie  (McDaniel) Creek.  Mother survives, Rushville.
Nov. 24, 1912, married Blanche E. Tate, who survives with a daughter, Mrs. Edward (Lucille) Hoyt of Shelbyville; a sister and two brothers, Mrs. Italy Young, Shelbyville, Denzil Creek, Rushville and Glen Creek, Rushville; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Self-employed mechanic; lived in Shelbyville for  27 years.

Services Saturday for Verl Creek, 71

Services will be held Saturday at Carmony Funeral Home in Shelbyville for Verl Creek, 71, 714 S. Miller St., local mechanic, who died Thursday at 11:45 am at Major Hospital.
Rev. James H. Horner will officiate and burial will be in Arlington East Hill Cemetery.
[Note from Susan:  This Cemetery is located on the north side of US 52, east of Arlington, in Rush County.]

CREEK,  MR.  ALVA  C. -- Funeral services for  Mr. Alva C. Creek, 82, Rt. 7, Box 88, Orlando, who died Monday in a local hospital, will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Fairchild Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carroll Ringgold officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.  The Orlando Lodge 69 F & AM will conduct Graveside services.  Born in Shelbyville, Indiana, he moved to Orlando in 1918 from there.  He was a retired Repairman of Yowell-Drew Department store which is now Ivey's.  He was a member of the Church of the Brethren, member of the Orlando Lodge 69 F & AM.  Surviving are:  Daughter:  Mrs. Arthur Flick, Orlando,  Brother:  Russell Creek,  Sisters:  Mrs. Laura Pyle, both of Shelbyville, Ind.  Mrs. Mary Tennell, Boggstown, Indiana, one grandson, five great grandchildren.  Fairchild Funeral Home, Lake Ivanhoe, in charge of arrangements.  Active pallbearers will be  Clinton Wax,  Guy Young,  Howard Brown,  Frank Wine,  Marvin Davis  and  William L. Sutton.  Fairchild Funeral Home, Lake Ivanhoe, is in charge.

          Mr.  ALVA  C.  CREEK,  82, rural Orlando, died Monday.  A native of Shelbyville, Ind., he moved to Orlando in 1918 and was a repairman for the old Yowell-Drew Department store, now Ivey's, before his retirement.  
          He was a member of Orlando Lodge 69 F & AM.  
          Surviving are daughter:  Mrs. Arthur Flick, Orlando; brother:  Russell and sister,  Mrs. Laura Pyle, both of Shelbyville; another sister,  Mrs. Mary Tennell, Boggstown, Indiana; one grandson; and five great grandchildren.
          Fairchild Funeral Home, Lake Ivanhoe, in charge.

CREEK,  MRS. CAROLYN  R. -- Funeral services for  Mrs. Carolyn R. Creek, age 63, of 547 Piedmont who died at home Sunday will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. from Fairchild Chapel with  Rev. L. A. Music, pastor of Lucerne Baptist Church, officiating and interment in Greenwood Cemetery.  Mrs. Creek is survived by her husband, Mr. Alva C. Creek,  one daughter, Mrs. Arthur Flick of Orlando; five brothers,  W. D. Ballard of Altamonte Springs, Fla.,  H. D. Ballard of Portland, Oregon;  Richard N. Ballard of Providence, R. I.;  Clarence W. Ballard of Roachville, Indiana and  Bernard Ballard of Virginia, and two sisters,  Mrs. Lottie Byland of Orlando and  Mrs. Inez B. Evans of California.  Fairchild Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs.  Carolyn  R.  Creek

          Mrs. Carolyn R. Creek, 63, of 547 Piedmont St., Orlando resident for 33 years, died at her residence Sunday.  Born in DeLand, Mrs. Creek went to Shelbyville, Ind., at an early age and in 1918 moved to Orlando.  She was a member of the Baptist Church.
          Besides here[sic] husband, Alva C. Creek,  she is survived by a daughter,  Mrs. Arthur Click [Flick],  Orlando, five brothers,  W. D. Ballard, Altamonte Spring,  H. D.  Ballard, Portland, Ore.,  Richard N. Ballard, Providence, R. I.,  Clarence W. Ballard, Roachville, Ind., and  Bernard Ballard of Virginia; and two sisters,  Mrs. Lottie Byland, Orlando, and  Mrs. Inez B. Evans of California.  Fairchild Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

            William Creek died at his residence in Union township at 3:35 p.m., Friday, of diabetes, aged 64 years, and was buried at the Little Blue River Chapel grave yard.  Services at the church at 11 o’clock a.m. Sunday, February 21st, Rev. J. W. Carney officiating.  D. B. Wilson & Son, funeral directors.
