James P. Conway, 65, died Saturday at his home in Flat Rock.
Born May 23, 1933, in Shelbyville, s/o  Russell and Ruth (Spillman) Conway.
Nov. 22, 1952, married  Jeannie (Martini) Conway,  and she survives.
Operated a convenience store in Geneva for 10 years, retiring in 1996.
Survivors also include a daughter,  Mrs. Mike (Sandra) Wenning,  Greensburg; two brothers,  Jack Conway  and  Mike Sermershein,  both of Shelbyville; and a step-grandchild.
Preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Hospice of Shelby County.

Illness Fatal to Mrs. Carrie Connaway
----------
          Mrs. Carrie "Clyde" Connaway, 76, of Morristown, widow of  H. B. Connaway, died at the Masonic Home Hospital at Franklin Monday afternoon after having been in failing health for several years.
          Mrs. Connaway, who with her husband operated a grocery and dry goods stores in Morristown and Gwynneville for several years, was a native of Shelby county.  She was born on February 20, 1877, and was the daughter of  William and Sarah (Ray) Goodwin.  Her marriage to Mr. Connaway took place on June 19, 1898, and his death occurred on June 28, 1938.  A son preceded her in death in infancy.  She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Etta Wortman  of Morristown, and several nieces and nephews.
          Mrs. Connaway was a member of the Morristown Christian Church and was a charter member of the Morristown Order of Eastern Star.
          Funeral rites will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Frazier Funeral Home in Morristown with Rev. Robert Reeves officiating.  Interment will be at Asbury cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home.

FORMER  HOSPITAL  EMPLOYEE  DIES
----------
          Ill for the past eight months, Mrs. Alta Conway, 61, former employee of the W. S. Major Hospital, died at her home at 214 W. Jackson St. this morning.
          Mrs. Conway was born in Hendricks township on June 2, 1888, the daughter of  Leander  and  Lillian (McPherran) Creek.  On October 11, 1903, she was married to  Jacob Conway  who preceded her in death in 1944.
          Six children were born to the union and five survive.  A son,  Ensign Gordon Conway,  was killed in an airplane crash in Pensecola, Fla., in 1930.  Those surviving are  Mrs. Reba Underwood  and  Mrs. Thelma McCarty  of this city,  Lyle Conway of Colorado Springs, Col.,  Chester  of Wilmar, Cal., and  Willard  of Gary.  Also surviving are three grandchildren, two sisters,  Mrs. Mertie Snapp,  Shelbyville, and  Mrs. Bernice Parks  of Clovis, Cal., and two brothers,  Otto Creek,  Marietta, and  Esta Creek  of Indianapolis.

H. CONNAWAY  DIES  AT  HOME

Gwynneville Business Man Passes Away After Illness
----------
          H. B. Connaway, age sixty-seven, died at his home in Gwynneville at 5:30 o'clock Thursday evening following an illness of several months.  Death was caused by heart trouble.
          The deceased was born Nov. 14, 1870.  On June 19,1898, he married (Carrie) Clyde Goodwin, who survives.
          Survivors besides the widow include the aged mother, Mrs. Isaleen Connaway, of Liberty, and one brother, Cass Connaway  of Buffalo, N. Y.; five sisters, Mrs. Laura Elliot, Indianapolis;  Mrs. William Hill, Wilder, Idaho, and  Miss Leah Connaway,  Mrs. Howard Widdows  and  Mrs. Carol Conner, all of Liberty.
          Mr. Connaway had been in the general store business in Gwynneville and Morristown for the past twenty-six years.  He was a member of Morristown Lodge No. 193, F.&A.M. and of the Morristown Christian Church.
          Funeral arrangements will be announced later by L. V. Hauk, Morristown funeral director.

Connaway Rites Will Be at Home Sunday
----------
          Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the home for  H. B. Connaway, 67, who died Thursday evening at his home in Gwynneville.  The Rev. Wyndham Nutter, pastor of the Morristown Christian Church, and the Rev. R. B. Givens, of the Kennard Christian Church will officiate.
          L. V. Hauk is in charge of burial, which will be in Asbury cemetery. Masonic services will be held at the grave.

Shelby Jeff. – William Conway  died at his home in Marietta at 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, aged 77 years, 1 month and 10 days.  He was born in Henderson county, Ky., coming to Indiana when a young man.  He bore his part in clearing away the forests and improving the farms.  He has resided within the same neighborhood for 60 years and was well and favorably known by the people of that locality.  He leaves his aged widow, two sons and four daughters, namely:  Milford,  John,  Mrs. Sarah Brant,  Mrs. Emily Scott,  Mrs. Jane Richey  and niece  Eliza Hommel;  also a number of grandchildren.  The funeral will be from the Second Mt. Pleasant church at 11 a.m. Sunday the 25th, conducted by Rev. S. S. Stanton of the M.P. church, of which denomination the deceased was 50 years a member.  The cortege will leave the residence at 9 a.m. Sunday, in charge of Edwards & Hageman.

  - Indiana, Death Certificates, 1899–2011,  Marietta, Hendricks Township, Shelby County, Certificate and Record of Death, Health Officer’s Record Number 16, page 285 records that William Conway died at about 5 o’clock p. m. on 23 Nov 1900 in Hendricks Township from old age, aged seventy-seven years, one month and ten day, born in Kentucky.  He was male, white, married and a laborer.  His father’s name was  Benjamin Conway,  and his mother’s maiden name  Elizabeth Foster,  both born in Kentucky.  The informant was  Milford Conway.  William was buried in Johnson County on 25 Nov 1900, Edwards & Hageman, undertaker.

          Mrs. Conway,  wife of  Milton Conway,  living near Bengal, died Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock after a long illness.  She was a daughter of  Jacob Medsker,  an old resident of Shelby county.  Funeral services were held at 10 o’clock yesterday morning at Second Mt. Pleasant church.
