William Belangee, Civil War Veteran,
Widely Known Over The County

BURIAL  THURSDAY

          William Belangee, seventy-four years old, a veteran of the civil war, died Monday night at eight-thirty o'clock at his home in Hendricks township.  His death was caused by a complication of diseases.  Mr. Belangee had lived on the Hendricks township place for 25 years.  He was known to many of his friends as "Uncle Billy."
          Mr. Belangee was born in Franklin county, Indiana on August 12, 1844.  At the age of eighteen years he enlisted with Company F, 68th regiment and served with the Union army during three years of the civil war.  He had been a member of the Second Mt. Pleasant Baptist church since February 15, 1866.  He was also a member of Dumont Post, G.A.R., of this city.
          He was married to  Mary Elizabeth Thurston  on December 21, 1865.  Mrs. Belangee died fifteen years ago.  Six children were born to them, one son,  William H. Belangee,  at home, also survives.  Four grand children and twelve great grandchildren also survive.
          Funeral services will be held Thursday at ten o'clock at the second Mt. Pleasant church and burial will be made in the church cemetery, Stewart & Fix in charge.

          Mrs. Mary E. Belangee, wife of  William Belangee  died at their home in Hendricks township at 5:30 a.m., May 1st, of lung trouble.  She leaves a husband and one son, and many others.  Funeral will be at 2nd Mt. Pleasant, Tuesday at 11 a.m., in charge of Edwards & Hageman.

          Eldora,  daughter of  Wm. and Mary Belangee,  died at their residence in Hendricks township, Shelby county, at six a.m. March 16, aged twenty-one.  Funeral services were held Saturday at Second Mt. Pleasant.

          Maggie, the 20 year old daughter of  William and Elizabeth Belangee, of West Hendricks township, died at 7 a.m. Sunday, November 25th 1888, and was buried at 2nd Mt. Pleasant Monday, the funeral procession leaving the house at 11 a.m.  Services at the church, the Rev. John Reece officiating.  D. B. Wilson, funeral director.
