1. BENJAMIN7 LEMASTERS (REUBEN6, RALPH5 LEMASTER, JOHN4, RICHARD3, ABRAHAM2, JOHN1) was born Abt. 1815 in Kentucky, and died Bef. 1882. He married NANCY J. MEYERS January 21, 1839 in Decatur County, Indiana. She was born Abt. 1810 in Kentucky.

Per 1850 U.S. census taken 23 Aug 1850, Greensburg, Washington Twp., Decatur County, IN (p. 021, dwlg.157), was a laborer who did not own land, 35 years old, born in Kentucky.
Per 1860 U.S. census taken 25 Jun 1860, Greensburg, Washington Twp., Decatur County, IN (p.678, dwlg.336), was a day laborer owning $400 land, 46 years old, born in Kentucky.
Per 1870 U.S. census taken 21 June 1870, Greensburg, Washington Twp., Decatur County, IN (p.201, dwlg.412), was a drayman, 55 years old, born in Kentucky. There was also listed a Polly Lamasters aged 59 (born KY) and a John A. Lamasters, aged 5 (born IN).

Per 1870 U.S. census taken 21 June 1870, Greensburg, Washington Twp., Decatur County, IN (p.201, dwlg.412) was listed as 64 years old, born in Kentucky.
Per 1880 U.S. census taken 10 June 1880, Greensburg, Decatur County, IN (p. 479, dwlg. 258) was listed as 70 years old and living with son William H. and his wife Mary Lemasters.

2. WILLIAM H.8 LEMASTERS (BENJAMIN7, REUBEN6, RALPH5 LEMASTER, JOHN4, RICHARD3, ABRAHAM2, JOHN1) was born Abt. 1851 in Indiana, and died Aft. 1920. He married (1) GEORGIANA ROBERTS May 05, 1869 in Decatur County, Indiana, daughter of GEORGE ROBERTS and MARY ANN. She was born Abt. July 1850 in Craig Township, Switzerland County, Indiana. He possibly married (2) MARY Bef. 1880.  Verification of this marriage is still being sought.  (see notes for Mary below)

Per 1860 U.S. census taken 25 Jun 1860, Greensburg, Washington Twp., Decatur County, IN (p.678, dwlg.336), listed as William H., 11 years old, born in Indiana.
Per LEMASTERS, U.S.A., 1639-1965; Chapter 5: #140 - William Lemasters born about 1845,
#115 - William H. Lemasters born 1849 are probably the same person. Birth date needs verification but 1849 probably correct since a sister S. Emaline was born in 1845 and is not noted to be a twin.
Contributors to LEMASTERS, U.S.A. 1639-1965 referred to stepmother's name as Mary- probably a second wife.
Per 1870 U.S. census Greensburg, Washington Twp. Decatur County, IN taken 5 July 1870 (p. 223, dwlg. 746), was 22 years old, born in Indiana, and living with in-laws George W. and Mary A. Roberts. No occupation listed.
Per 1880 U.S. census taken 10 June 1880, Greensburg, Decatur County, IN (p. 479, dwlg. 258), was a laborer, 32 years old, born in Indiana.
Per 1920 U.S. census Greensburg, Washington Twp. Decatur County, IN taken 18 January 1920 (E.D. 71, Sheet 7B, dwlg. 182) was a transfer (dray) man, 69 years old, born in Indiana. Mother and father born in Kentucky. Living at 422 S. Broadway, Greensburg.

Neither William H. nor Mary A. Lemasters are listed in W. H. Hoffman's 1924 Greensburg City Directory.  Are they deceased by this time?

Per 1850 U.S. census Craig Twp. Switzerland County, IN taken 14 September 1850 (p.361, dwlg.142), 2 months old, born in Indiana. Name listed as Georgiann. Apparently born in July 1850.
Per 1860 U.S. census Johnson Twp. Ripley County, IN taken 1 June 1860 (p. 304, dwlg 26), was 9 years old, born in Kentucky. NOTE: mistakenly listed as George W. NOTE: Listed as having been born in Kentucky.
Per 1870 U.S. census Greensburg, Washington Twp. Decatur County, IN taken 5 July 1870 (p. 223, dwlg. 746), was 19 years old, born in Indiana. She and husband, William H. Lemasters living with her parents George W. and Mary A. Roberts.

3 May 1892 Decatur Co. Deed Book 38, p.527: Mary A. Lemaster, of Decatur Co., IN, fěrom Alice Wallace Baker & husband George W. Baker, of Decatur Co., for $100 20 feet off East side of Lot 11 & 20 feet off the West side of lot 12 in Auld & Freeman's Addition to the Town (now city) of Greensburg .
11Nov 1893 Decatur Co. Deed Book 41, p.120: Mary A. Lemaster & husband William H. Lemaster, of Decatur Co., IN, to Elizabeth Styers & husband Joseph H. Styers, of Decatur Co., for $750 subject to Mortgage No.l executed by the grantors to the working Building & Loan Asso. For $500 and Mortgage No.2 for $125, 20 feet off East side of lot 11 & 20 feet off the West side of lot 12 in Auld & Freeman's Addition to the Town (now city) of Greensburg. Mary A. signs & William uses his mark.
NOTE the following from report of Richard Enochs (genealogical researcher) 8221 Forsythia Court, Indianapolis, IN 46219-2813 dated 20 February, 2002.: "By only Mary A.'s name being on the acquisition deed and appearing first on the disposition deed, there is the suggestion that the purchase money was hers. This leaves the question, did she come to it by an inheritance? If so, that further implies she was from the Greensburg area."
Per 1920 U.S. census Greensburg, Washington Twp. Decatur County, IN taken 18 January 1920 (E.D. 71, Sheet 7B, dwlg. 182) was listed as Mary A., 70 years old, born in Indiana. Mother born in Virginia and father born in Pennsylvania. Living at 422 S. Broadway, Greensburg.

CARL HENRY9 LEMASTERS (WILLIAM H.8, BENJAMIN7, REUBEN6, RALPH5 LEMASTER, JOHN4, RICHARD3, ABRAHAM2, JOHN1) was born January 22, 1872 in Champaign, Champaign County, Illinois, and died October 25, 1918 in Greensburg, Decatur County, Indiana. He married ROSA N. WILLIAMS April 04, 1893 in Greensburg, Decatur County, Indiana.  She was the daughter of JOHN ROBERTS and MARY NELSON but her name on the marriage application suggests a prior marriage.  She was born November 06, 1871 in St. Paul, Shelby County, Indiana, and died January 25, 1919 in Madison, Jefferson County, Indiana.

Per 1900 U.S. census Greensburg Washington Twp., Decatur County, IN taken 16 June 1900 (E.D. 63,
Sh. 13B); listed as living at 200 S. Broadway, was born February 1872, married 7 years, was a teamster, born in Indiana.

Notes for ROSA ANNA ROBERTS:
Rosa was probably married first to ___________ Williams. On her marriage certificate to Carl H. Lemasters, she is listed as Rosa N. (possibly phonetic for Anna) Williams. On birth certificates for her three children, her maiden name is listed as Williams.
Per family tradition: Rose's father and husband died within a short time span. Those deaths affected Rosa mentally and she also became seriously ill to the extent that she had to hospitalized. Apparently the 1918 flu epidemic had caused facilities near Greensburg to be filled to capacity.
Per death certificate: She was hospitalized in King's Daughter's Hospital in Madison, Indiana where she died. The cause of death was listed as Erysipelas-Septicemia with a contributory factor being manic depression/insanity.

Sh. 13B); listed as living at 200 S. Broadway, was born November 1871, married 7 years, had 2 children born, 2 living. She was born in Indiana. Name listed as Rose.

Per Decatur County marriage book N, p. 291. Married by Rev. Francis W. Sisco who was a Methodist minister. Certificate lists middle initial "N.", probably phonetic for Anna.

Per family tradition: Carl Raymond Lemasters was known as "Ray".
Per 1900 U.S. census Greensburg Washington Twp., Decatur County, IN taken 16 June 1900 (E.D. 63,
Sh. 13B); listed as living at 200 S. Broadway, was born October 1899 in Indiana. Name listed as Raymond.
Carl Raymond Lemasters took his own life while the family was living at 109 East Prospect Avenue, Hackettstown, New Jersey.
The Greensburg Standard newspaper of 31 January 1919 included the following article:
Lemasters-Hollis
     “Raymond Lemasters and Miss Lula Hollis stole a march on their friends yesterday and went to Carrolton, Kentucky where they were united in marriage.
     Miss Lula Hollis is the daughter of Mrs. Lon Brooks and the groom is the son of Mrs. Carl Lemasters.  He has just received his discharge from the army.  It will be recalled that he gave a quart of blood recently in the hope of saving the life of a soldier comrade.  The News extends congratulations and best wishes to the young couple.”
     No evidence has been uncovered to date (2008) to verify that this marriage ever took place.
