arrived at the home Mr. Hughbanks was dead. Mr. Hughbanks moved to this
city with his family only a year ago, having previously lived on a farm
in Union township. He was a member of the Little Blue River Baptist
church. Besides his wife he is survived by six children--Albert, Tullie,

PROMINENT WOMAN CALLED BY DEATH
----------
Mrs. Armilda Hughbanks, fifty-six years old, wife of Frank Hughbanks, died at
their home in Shelby township, south of this city at five-thirty-five o'clock
Tuesday evening, the end following months of suffering from a complication of
diseases. Mrs. Hughbanks had been fully aware for several weeks that her illness
must terminate fatally, but she exhibited the true Christian fortitude and
meekly awaited the call of the Master. Toward the last she expressed the wish
that the call might soon come that she might have relief from her sufferings.
Mrs. Hughbanks had been a lifelong resident of this county, having been born
November 6, 1855. She was united in marriage with Mr. Hughbanks February 1,
1882, but no children were born of the union. Desiring children about their home
the couple adopted and reared Miss Ruth Boggan and Harry Henry, a nephew of Mrs.
Hughbanks, and the love of the couple was showered on these children as tho they
had been of their own flesh and blood. Mrs. Hughbanks was a loving wife and a
helpful neighbor and none called on her for assistance but that it was
cheerfully given. She had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal faith since
the days of her girlhood and she had always been true to its teachings and a
loyal worker for the cause. Her membership had been with the First M. E. church
of this city for several years. Mrs. Hughbanks has been preceded to the life
eternal by her parents, a sister and severn brothers, and she is survived by a
sister, Mrs. Emma Ogden; two brothers, Frank and Edward, and a half-brother,
George Ross. Mrs. Hughbanks was a member of Shelbyville Hive, No. 99, Ladies of
the Maccabees, and this order will have charge of the burial ceremonies. The
funeral services will be held at the Pleasant Grove Christian church at two
o'clock Friday afternoon, the Rev. William G. Clinton, of the First M. E.
church, officiating. Interment will be made in Forest Hill under the direction
of Stewart & Fix.
